Found him in the garden and moved him to a spot that I wasn't tilling.

I was moving some of my mulch pile and found a garden snake and some kind of small lizard buried deep inside the pile. Neither one moved when I picked them up. I read that they will both hibernate when it's cold out. I assume that's why they didn't move. I put them both back in the pile and covered them up.

As a youth, we caught all types of snakes, some were poisonous and many were not, and we would keep them in jars or just play with them before releasing them. It is a miracle we were never bit by the cotton mouths and copper heads, but some of them became belts and hat bands.
