Did Wipeout Products Ruin My Barrel?

It was the accelerator by itself for 45 minutes.
From their site;
"WIPE-OUT ACCELERATOR™ is not meant to be used by itself as a cleaner, but is a catalyst that enhances the action of WIPE-OUT™ ."

On the bright side looks like you have a barrel that you can use for fireforming.
I guess I misunderstood. From other posts it looks like the accelerator crystallized or something. I was thinking he was saying it tarnished or pitted up his barrel.

You send me $1200, the action and the reamer and I'll chamber it for ya. I get to keep what's leftover, though. ;)

I can't believe spending $1200 plus on a barrel...I just put a dimond ring on my trigger finger to get the enhanced accuracy...and it wouldn't wear out.
I buy a mostly Bartlein barrel blanks for around $420, 30" heavy palma and build a rifle in one day. There are sales and free shipping on barrel blanks, I always get the barrel blank I want shipped in a few days of ordering...no line no waiting, & $400...and PT&G just shipped a wildcat reamer to my door in 6 days! They get alot of negative print here, some probably deserved, but I've received excellent cutting tools and reamers, from them, with only one wrongly shipped tool over many years...and ya notice things like slipping lapping finishes from premium barrel manufacturer, as those manufacturers try to neet demand. And I'd hand lap this barrel to see it that would improve the copper fouling...then toss it and chamber another $400 Bartlein barrel blank..shoot it, first, then flute it if I wanted it lighter...I never flute for looks it's a waste of time and money, especially on a high volume rifle, that you expect to change barrels on often...which you are likely to do, if you expect to be any good, at a particular shooting endeavor.

So, Wipout trashed my barrel.

The Owner of Wipeout is a Charlatan. I can provide further commentary of our conversation, but it's all the same excuses. I got a bad vibe the first conversation we had. He was really defensive and down putting. I followed all his advice. When he saw the same pics I posted. He wouldn't contact me back. I had to call him.

Wipout dude said the pictures looked fine and the barrel was clean. These are the pictures you all are seeing.

Here's 20rnds down the bore:

No change in the CORROSIVE PITTING!
The bullets were probably pure lead cores flying out the end!

JuSt sChz00t iT! 😜
You got this going for ya... that's about he prettiest bore I've ever seen. A kaleidoscope.

If it doesn't shoot, I'd put that picture on the wall of my reloading room. Think hard about pulling the barrel and moving on.

Painful. I know. I just pulled 2 custom carbon fiber wrapped barrels and 1 custom aftermarket SS barrel. Two were pulled due to underwhelming precision. One in order to increase twist rate. Pretty much sucks - big time - all the way around.

Suppose that barrel could be tight bored? Wonder if the unusual surface of that bore has anything, anything at all, to do with the blown casing. At the minimum, it hints of a Twilight Zone strange coincidence...

They used to go into the same square. 😟
This is a very expensive premium hand lapped barrel. I understand some thinking this is a great group. It is not considering the group enlargement. I was expecting few thousand rounds of great performance. Is that now cut in half?

If I run the Borescope fast through the bore, my wife said it looks like Star Wars ships when they kick into hyperspace! 🤣

I use accelerator and patch out combination on all my barrels. I have never used accelerator on its own but almost always leave barrels overnight with the combo soaking. I regularly see red streaks in my patches when applying accelerator. This is generally the 1st or 2nd application of the accelerator.(before applying accelerator/patch out I clean loose debris out of the bore with hoppes until patches come out clean with no soaking. Then clean with alcohol patch and dry patch. Then use the wipeout/patch out)

The rifles that I've built or purchased since buying a borescope (which I use every cleaning) I've yet to see a pitted barrel. This includes 3 different proof carbon barrels, 2 criterion, and multiple factory barrels.

But now I'm curious because I recently looked down my barrels for the ar platform that are pitted. I have 6 barrels from the same manufacturer. 3 of which are pitted. All of them stainless. I'm not sure if they were like this when I got them or when the pits actually showed up.

My understanding of the accelerators purpose is to speed up the patch out. It is not intended to clean whatsoever. So with all due respect I'm curious as to how you expected a good outcome?
