Desert Eagle .44 Magnum and an optic.

I have a Desert Eagle in .44.
It has a rail on the top of the slide. I'm thinking of putting a Leupold Red Dot reflex site on it.
Any advice on optics for a big bore auto pistol?

I have the 50ae w/6" barrel with integrated brake along with matching 10" 50ae, 6 & 10" 44mag barrels and mags. I'd install something with a large window. Maybe a c-more ir trijicon 42mm. If mother Maybe at least 32+ size window? I think the rmr size is to small, but might be fine for you?

When I used to deer hunt with my 44 magnum desert eagle (7) i put a scope rail on barrel with a 2x7 pistol scope on it. Hunted from a tree stand. Best day i shot 2 does and a 7 point buck.

I have both 44 and 50AEs. I put millet sights in mine. The 44 has very little muzzle flip. You can actually double tap with it. My 50 has no comp and the muzzle flip is significant. On the .44 you could use a Trijicon or a Holosun. A large screen would be be preferable.

There is a pretty large window on this Leupold Delta Point Pro. I thought it might be good for the amount of recoil.
The Delta Point has a 27mm wide window.
I forgot to mention I have the integrated muzzle brake on mine too.
I too am impressed that it doesn't have that much muzzle flip.
Its like firing a Cadillac! LOL

I Have looked at them but never tried one. Just look. It's a big firearm, heavy too. I'll take my 500 S&W.

I'm sure the 500S&W is cool, I want one too. But the nice thing about the gas operated auto pistol is the recoil is surprisingly manageable. Like the poster above said, you can double tap with the DE.

My desert eagle digest and cycles just about any jacketed ammo. These pistols like hot loads like 24 + grains of 296 with a 240 grain bullet.
The polygonal rifling and the locking bolt can take the abuse of very hot loads.
I have fired many 1" groups at 50 yards with this combo.

Yes it's a two handed firearm. Even with that it's hell to hold onto. Some people have hit themselve in the head with it. Or so I have heard.

My Holosun is still alive on my 629, so I would give them a try.
