I had one too, shouldn't have sold it….I'd love to find one for my encore pistol, you should see some of my other handgun bears.
Beautiful bear, I'd full mount that dude.I was blowing a predator call, trying to entice another bear to get closer, when this 6' Idaho bear came in. He was running straight at me, expecting a meal, when I shot him at lawn dart throwing range. The first shot turned him and I finished him with a couple more before he got out of view. This was with JSPs or JHPs. Perhaps a hard cast bullet would have taken him down with one shot.
Today, if I were to choose one bullet for everything, I would go with Swift A-Frames, as was suggested by @Varmint Hunter. I don't have any experience with it out of a revolver but I was sure impressed with its performance out of a muzzleloader on a bull elk. I do load Swift A-Frames in my 460 S&W but I have not shot anything with that revolver yet.

I'm leaning that way nowI'd use the 270 hard cast
I'm from Montana too, shot some real good ones with my pistolsThe average Idaho bear is nothing like the average Ak bear or some of those tanks back east. You have more than enough with either. My son shoot one with a 40 on a day hike.Theres the rare larger type that get some size around here.
