Sorry to hear that man I had the same problem this year and had to cancel my moose hunt in Alberta Canada so I'm hoping I will be able for my elk hunt at the end of this month in Co.

I have had 8 back surgeries and have metal screws and bars so no chiropractor will touch me.
Our banker had severe neck problems and chose accupuncture and is way better.
Been thinking of that Teeter inversion thingy as I also loose feeling in my fingers due to neck problems and my brother in law can use his hands again after using his so I may get one.
Getting older is not for the faint of heart and I see it with our hunting community here as well as me feeling it and I truly hope everyone the best for everyone here.

That is too bad.
Having stenosis I can feel for you.
Is it possible to have a friend or fellow hunter drive you out? You might be able to recline or lie down on the trip. Then do as you can, but not enough to cause pain might be therapeutic.
If you can use O2 tanks it might relieve the pain a bit.
I make a Juniper berry tea. Actually pine cones Juniper being an evergreen, but most call them berries. It drops my pain a couple points. If you make the tea, do not use leaves or roots. They are full of thulome and will cause gastric upset. That is a nice way of saying explosive distress and cramps.
howdy shooters i broke my back L1 in June now that iam out of the major brace, i find that DMSO makes a big difference in my pain... about three times a day and i feel great, burns a little and smells but it kills the pain...it is also called horse liniment and it works for them....try it...
Linamint works great for everything lol. Just he careful, a little goes a long way, and alot will burn the hide right off of you lol.

Pain can be ignored, and adapted too, only so long. I've learned in the last year there are levels past what I thought was possible.
Not a lot of support from the medical community, don't let them label you as a wimp, especially after you've powered through it all these years. Worked full time etc. A pain specialist referral may be needed if your primary isn't responsive.
I never met a PT that didn't help me.
Inversion was OK for the younger me, wouldn't try it now.
I've been privileged to have friends willing to pick up my end of the log, and have done hunts that were not possible without them.
There are guides also that are great with older hunters as well. Some hunts like bear baits that are doable as well.

Headed out for CO 2nd rifle unit 77, When I get tired, sore, hungry, cold, and feel like sleeping in. I won't whine about it because my Muddy brother would trade with me in a heartbeat!!! Will hunt hard in your honor, my brother! Get better and see you next year!!
I have to be very careful with inversion. I got serious vertigo one time resulting in ambulance ride to hospital. I came up to fast from inversion triggering vertigo. Could not stand, move without serious nauseous. Told wife call EMTs and tell them I am in basement and 6'4" and 260. So 2 EMTs open door into basement and saw me on floor. All I heard was OH
! They called for backup since neither were bigger than 5'9"! OMG could they find smaller fellas? So then County Sheriff and MI State Trooper shows up to help. So now I have ambulance, county sheriff and MSP vehicles in driveway! Hellava sight for neighbors! They finally got me up stairs using chair but not before I tossed my cookies luckily into a bucket they were carrying. So arrive at hospital and ER doc comes in. Its my freaking neighbor and laughing his butt off talking to me. Ran tests to be certain vertigo, got shot and it resolved almost immediately. But still haven't lived it down with neighbor!!!

Hi mate, I have found a new pain relief drug, called Buvidal, was experimental till recently down here, I get 1 shot every three weeks and it works great, 90% of pain gone, also it doesn't mess with my head.
Hopefully this information might help some of you, l have both shoulders smashed and broken my back in a few places with complications ( bloody motorbikes) and l am still shooting, though I don't hike, much of our shooting is from a quad or Landcruiser; Muddy, hope all goes well for you and you get back Hunting soon,

DANG! FDA has not approved it as yet. Thanks for info. I am following up with neurosurgeon to see if he has any further info.
That stinks brother. I feel for you got 7 Vertebrate fused and disc's collapsed under them. I get the injections for some relief sometimes they work sometimes they don't. The surgeon wants to fuse 4 more with expected loss of 40% more mobility told him Id have to be dying of pain before I did that. My initial fusion was result of IED in Iraq. I know it sucks missing the hunt but I came to the conclusion along time back that being alive and enjoying my family was priority if I get to hunt great I'm just thankful for what I can still do. Hope you feel better soon you will be in thoughts and prayers...
