Cutting down a proof carbon?

To me at my gunsmith....$50
No....1/2moa at 400yds.....2".....they were sometimes 1.75".....
Cut and and reset of load went to 7/8".....
I think at 100yds that is something like .18"......

Anyone know why they would use brass?

As far as I know, there's only one carbon barrel make that actually advocates chopping through the carbon, and thats Pederson Precision. He contours and wraps Rock Creek and Mullerworks blanks. I have a few that been cut down, and just shoulder up the muzzle device to the carbon shoulder, alls been well and they shoot fine.
