Coyote hunting tips

So, this was my last stand, which produced nothing. The road on the map picture is an old muddy logging road that nobody has driven on in at least 3 days. We have been getting snow, so I am sure that is true. This is a piece of public land in the middle of nowhere, a few thousand acres that is currently being logged. The areas I'm hunting over look to be timber on the map, but they were mostly clear cut last summer. I have seen numerous sets of coyote tracks crossing the road. I walked about a mile from my truck to make the first stand, and about that far to where I sit now at stand two..

Sorry, I had no signal, pictures wouldn't upload.

Forgot one. This is from my seat, 1st stand. Wind in my face, about 5mph. It would occasionally switch a little to quartering from my right to left.

Any glaring hole in that setup gentlemen?

They use these ravines as travel corridors, so I try to call them in a way that allows them to travel their preferred way when possible.

Next stand. Wind was roughy the same.

I don't see the coyote😳😂👍👍
I didn't see any either. I had to stomp my brakes and slide across the road in the snow to avoid running one over on the way home. By the time I realized what I had done and got it into reverse, it was too late to put my call down and start scaring him away.

People talk about them getting educated, and recognizing different sounds. I take hand calls with me out there, and unless they've heard weird AL Yankovic play the kazoo, they've never heard that sound before..

Some days are incredibly easy and others are efforts in frustration....sometimes it's mindset, some times it's luck. When I go out I expect to kill some coyotes I figure on any given day I will have the opportunity to kill 1-4 and it's my responsibility to close the deal.....but I have been doing this on and off for 37 years. No I am not the best coyote hunter but I believe in my ability to be successful and it's not if I will it's when. Success builds confidence. If I lived closer to you I would enjoy sharing what little I know to make you successful. In your conditions I would be all snow camo, I like hand calls and ecaller both have faith in both.. mostly though I hunt alone, not many are interested in how I hunt or in coyotes, l eat it up and am always thinking of strategy or ideas to be more successful. Just finished reading an article about using coyote decoy in the rut and denning, makes sense to me, another thing to give a hunter a small edge. I know one thing I am going to practice running shooting as I have missed a lot of kinda easy running shooting...always look at a weakness and try to turn it into a strength. 😔👍🙏
