Performance wise, based on my one example, & comparing Lance's 22" tube, the 22x47 will add easily another 150 FPS+ over the GT with 80's.

That is what I use; 58 grain bullets at 4000 fps!
I don't blame you, heck thats why I use a .243. My dad already loads for it. There's also something to be said with using the same cartridge. Your holds are pretty close rifle to rifle. Keep things simple.Definitely thought about it. I think if I go with another 6mm that close to my gt I will probably just spin up a short barreled gt since I already have everything for it.
Beautiful hunting land! The only open areas that we have here in the SE are on Gas & Power Lines. I have had a few 1K shots on Yotes and then set up 1 Mile for Steel with our .260 Rems. When I hunted in SD for PDs I always wanted to come back for Yotes, Badgers. The open areas and Draws where some streams run always PULLED me to hunt there. We have all the equipment--just don't have the access to the GREAT Hunting areas in SD, ND, NM, TX.^ This
My 22" 22GT is pushing 77TMKs @ 3200 and has wrecked coyotes out past 750.
Alpha SRP brass available
Super easy to find a load. I tried 3 charge weights each with the 77TMK and 85.5 Hyb. Loaded some up, and shot #19 out of the barrel was a coyote at 750. Haven't touched the load since.
Light recoil
Light charge weights
Shot #19 from the rifle

77TMKs work very well

The truck where the shot was taken from is WAY off in the distance

Yes sir. The main thing with my gt is if a run the 80 gr Eldvts is that I have little to no holdover. I didn't want to change my 105 zero when I made those rounds. We had a coyote tournament between our deer rifle season and holiday antlerless season. The 80s shot .3 mills high at 200, .2 low at 300, and 450 was .7 milsI don't blame you, heck thats why I use a .243. My dad already loads for it. Oh yeah I agree it's a great round and easy to get stuff for. It's just so close to my gt and I already have brass and a reamer so it's just as easy to spin a short gt up.For those ranges a .243 with an 87 vmax would be pretty easy. Mine won't push them to 3300 fps but 3200 is pretty easy to do. Makes them quite dead at the ranges you are asking about. Lots of brass too.
Why don't you do just that!? Nothing says you can't have more than one! I have 4 **** 260s and 2 6CMs. Everything has a purpose and if you like the GT, just build one dedicated for varmints. Highly recommend building on a tikka CTR action.Oh yeah I agree it's a great round and easy to get stuff for. I have thought about it a lot. Almost pulled the trigger on it a couple times haha. I just like to see what everyone else has and likes. I really enjoy messing with new calibers in my reloading room. That's probably the only reason I didn't do another 6gt. I'm working on my old 722 257 Robert's nowWhy don't you do just that!? Nothing says you can't have more than one! I am not a huge ar fan. I want a 416 at some point and I will probably build a few eventually just to have them. I have a sweet spot for boltguns. I thought about the arc in a bolt gun since you can push it a little harder. I just never bit the bullet.I'm a fan of the 260 Rem. myself if you are building an AR, it would be an AR10 for the 260 Rem as you already know. For an AR15 I like the 22ARC it's kind of a copy of the Russian 5.45x39 that came out in 1974 in answer to the U.S. 5.56x45. It's kind of hard to find the 5.45x39 as it was classified as a pistol cartridge so it's hard to come by in the U.S. but the 22 ARC is gaining in popularity. I put together a 700 Rem chambered for 260 Rem. this past summer in a Boyds at one stock with an EABCO 24" 8 twist barrel for my grandson, I had fun with it till he got it. For most of us it is a matter of enjoying building a new rifle, making the brass ready to be loaded and then finding the load of powder and bullet weight and tuning the load to what we find acceptable groups.
And from left field.............naturally someone has to say it but...........snorkI'm looking into building a designated coyote gun. We shoot anywhere from 60-500 on our big open places. I like wildcats but I also don't want to have a cartridge that's a pain in the rear to find brass for. I don't mind making brass if it's not a huge time consumer. Looking for a short action in the 60-85 grain pills area. I'm trying to keep it on the short lightweight side. Maybe 20-23 inch barrel. Going around 3300 give or take. Anyone have some suggestions?
