Couple of brass questions

1. Could be a speck of dirt or carbon in your chamber. Cleaning it should clear that up. If it's after sizing, could be too much lube as others have said. Either way, it won't be a problem to load and shoot.

2. Pretty standard for bushing dies and isn't an issue. The Short Action Customs modular sizing dies don't leave that unsized portion because the bushing sizes the entire neck along with bumping the shoulder back.

That was my first thought also. Bit of trash in the chamber at the shoulder /neck junction.

I've seen this once on my cousin's rifle as he was ejecting the case it was hitting his scope turret causing the dent

it was a vortex scope and the turret has sharp edges/points on it causing the dents

With my limited experience, I've found that it was usually…..excessive case lube or plugged die vent holes!

Oh and, I've seen much worse than that……50 or 60 K lbs. of internal case pressure will "iron" that right out! memtb

I see some people saying it is normal because of the die. Come on. If the die design is normal than we're getting sold a bill of goods

What is wrong? Does it not fit in the chamber? They cannot make an unsupported knife edge at the top on the shoulder. It would break….so there is an extra 16th inch of material. The hole below the bushing is tight enough to fit in the chamber.

You can load it but it's going to crack. Kinda like bending a coat hanger back and forth the metal has been compromised and will fail before the rest of the surrounding surfaces.

Pleated cases take several firings to crack, there is more material inside the case from that pleat. Over time it flattens, then can't expand and cracks.
I have shot plenty of pleated cases just because, it is amazing the ductility of brass.

Too much lube !!!! Clean the die with boiling water, and start again.....they are good to shoot.

How about taking the bushing out, spraying it with gun scrubber, and pulling some patches through? This die has its own dedicated rockchucker now just because it was such a pain to get it adjusted just so..
