What's you application with this setup?Someone convince me to build a 300 RUM. Im also kinda thinking about a 300 RUM AI and even +P'ing it. Literally balls to the wall 30 cal. Im thinking i would prefer to run bullets between a 174 ELD-VT and a 230 A-Tip. Sierra bullets will be in the mix as well.
You dont need to provide me with your load if you dont want, but i would like to know some of your guy's build specs and what kind of velocities you are getting. Pictures are a bonus!
Well i think i have a bad barrel and bad brass. So if i were to redo it all, should i change it up completely or stick with the same? Its not like it would matter much, im rebuilding a gun. So my main trains of thoughts are, build max performance, or stick with what i got. Everyone else has been mentioning a few calibers that aren't a .532 bolt face, so it doesnt make sense for me to use those. I need something with a .532 bolt face. What's you application with this setup?
I see a lot of talk about stupid high velocity, but very little about what really matters.
I'm running 245s at a measly 2850 from my 300 NMI, I can easily add 150 fps but I'm literally getting an ES of less than 5 with incredible consistency.
I've taken it to 1925 yards and there's zero vertical dispersion.
I'd just rebarrel and use lapua cases, or better yet (in my opinion) get a 30 nosler barrel throated out properly and run Peterson brass.Well i think i have a bad barrel and bad brass. My elk rifles:@lancetkenyon
What a fantastic rig. Can only dream of importing those stocks here nowadays. $$$$$ too much tax.
I guess that coyote didn't like itā¦
Cheers.
P.S.
Nice Elk rifle.
Yes!!!!!!!This is a LONG RANGE HUNTING FORUM.
Those of us that hunt TRUE LR use the tools required to do such things with the best that we can. This means LONG barrels, steady rests and bags, scopes and other gadgets to do so.
I see so much banter here about 16.5", 18", 20" & 22" barrels it amazes me.
Who uses these barrel lengths for true LR hunting?
Unbelievable!
Why not buy new brass and try it?Well i think i have a bad barrel and bad brass. So if i were to redo it all, should i change it up completely or stick with the same?
