Cleaning bolt lug recess

Hi can anyone tell me if there is a way to clean the bolt lug recess if you do not have the probeer tools? Non of my locals gun shops seem to have lug recess and chamber cleaning tools. I wanted to order j dewey tools online but they charge 121$ for the cheapest shipping option to where I live. That is 5 times the price of the kit I wanted to buy and I don't want to pay that much for shipping. So if anyone can give me any tips on how to diy it or use existing cleaning rods I'd appreciate it.
Try a can of carburetor cleaner spray then a little oil later I will blow any crap out of there

I use a the Sinclair action cleaning tools (available at Brownells.com) l which uses dental gauze (plugs)

If you have a way to secure your rifle in an upright position muzzle end down with a catch vessel under it [or have someone hold it for you] I'd get one of these wash bottles fill it about half full with charcoal starter or other [petroleum distillates] solvent [one could also use Ronsonol which is mostly hexanes] and just wash the the thing out until the wash solvent comes out clean. Wipe out the recesses with something like an oversized [3 inches] dry patch and push a wet patch followed by a dry patch down the bore.

Nonpolar hydrocarbon solvents are great for removing most oils and greases. For me the main thing to be cleaned out is bolt lug lube.

I use regular gun cleaning fluid and an old toothbrush; hey it works!!! I also plug the barrel with a cleaning rod with a patch, run down to the chamber then use a good blast or two of brake cleaner and then 100lbs of compressed air. I usually will do this once a year before hunting season starts, but remove the action from the stock when I do this.

Interesting idea is the toothbrush long enough?

Sure if you go in from the top of the receiver and through the magazine well you can do a good a pretty good job. Also use a piston cleaning kit with a piece of terry cloth towel patch along with the tooth brush. I also use the nylon bristled brush to clean the entire action on rifles and pistols, and.....once upon a time when dinosaurs were walking the earth revolvers.

I am not sure how clean I actually get mine, but after a cleaning, I tip the rifle upside down in a garbage can, then put the nozzle thingy on a can of Gun Scrubber aerosol, and spray vigorously in that area. It drains down the chamber-barrel. Then a blast of compressed air, set it back up in vise, clean the chamber, one jag down the tube, call it a day.
I then grease the back of the bolt lugs, firing and cycling, redo
