Go with the plastic brushes, quality bore guide (Lucas is best) and solid one piece stainless steel rods with good bearings in the handle. Rods can be uncoated or coated. Wipe every time after pulling them out of the barrel.
Then buy at least one of the cheaper borescopes. Othewise you really do not know wht the bore and throat actually look like.
