Again guys, this is a CA... No disrespect, they are good, if you get one made on a Wednesday! ha ha ha

The experience we have with testing multiple CA rifles are poor results 80% of the time. Change the barrel and you are doing great! Also, this isn't a custom chamber, so who knows how well it's lined up to the barrel

Yupp...avoid anything made on a Monday or Friday...

Did you ever shoot it without the can?

I did not try it without the can. I planned on using it 100% of the time while hunting.

I just shot another 2 loads of 3 rounds each. I changed the scope to trusty Burris last night because of random movements (up, down and right to left) so I wanted to eliminate that possible issue.
Well… 1st 3 shot group of one load was barely over a 1" cluster!
2nd group of a different load was 2 in 1 hole and the 3rd round went a bit over 1" left.
Maybe my old Vortex razor erector gave out from moving it to sight in ?

Anyhow… I will slightly adjust and try to get in tighter!

I was having issues with my 308 and tried benchmark powder.. with 150 grain hornady bullets I am getting about 3/4 inch at 100 yards. they have load data on the bottle for 308

This chamber has a bit shorter freebore than my others.
I've loaded from mag length (2.830) down to 2.780 ( which was 90k jump) when I shot it with the other scope.
I'm back at the starting gate but will run thru this development again so I am not scared to run mag length down.
Hell, I have a 284 Winchester throated for 180 Hybrid that jumps 150 NBT 160k and can hit corners of the targets.

I shoot 2 308's with 18" barrels and they're both tack drivers with whatever I feed them. 130 Barnes TTSX, and then the 168/178 AMAX or ELDX same. One is a 10 twist PBB and other is a 9 twist Proof. Both run suppressed also.

UPDATE:
Well… I found the problem!…I think!
Glad I gave it a fair chance after shooting so bad.
I didn't realize or think of the order they would appear when I took the pictures a few minutes ago…. Sorry

So the first is the last 3 shots today.

The second (shoot-n-see) is 2 groups with the Vortex Razor day before yesterday before I swapped the scope.

The 3rd shows the sight-in and a 3 shot group (center target) mentioned yesterday after the scope change…along with todays final group (above right of same target).

So, I guess I'll see if Vortex will repair or replace my Razor…

I'm going to repeat the final load a couple of times to ensure it wasn't a fluke.
I did double check every step of loading again on this last range trip thinking this barrel also seems very sensitive to load data because my ES and SD's aren't that good with the ball powder I'm using.
Hopefully it hangs in there!
Our whitetail rifle season opens here next weekend!

People crap on Vortex, but I have several of their products; and the the only warranty work I've sent them in for was due to mishap.

@Roughrice they will fix or replace your scope without hesitation. I've sent them binoculars I managed to run over, as well as, 2 scopes I managed to smash the objective in on falling on a rock on the way down scree. I've had some falls and tumbles that resulted in damage and they've never hesitated to replace their products.

The thought of buying a Tangent Theta or Zero Compromise both makes me drool and feel extreme anxiety. I know my clumsy *** would break a high end scope on accident and the thought of eating that cost....it is sickening.

I feel the same. I can't afford nice scopes on all my rifles but I'm happy if my set and forget shorter range hunting scopes handle the regular daily bumps and bruises and stay on zero. I'm a bit more cautious with my more expensive dialing scopes.
