Charge disparities between books

Every MFG uses a test barrel and consults a lawyer. Every test barrel and every lawyer is different.

Different lots of powder, Different primers, different barrels, different barrel lengths, possibly different col, different brass.

General when looking for load data i defer to the bullet makers manual. Second is the powder makers with my exact bullet.

My Sierra app shows
308 winchester, 24in 1:10 twist barrel
168g tgk
Col 2.800
Imr 4064
Min 38.0g 2310fps
Max 44.5g 2710fps

Work it up, be safe. While i never exceed max, i look at the numbers as a ballpark. Every gun is an an individual.

Turns out it didn't matter. It liked the lower charge anyway. A Speer 165gr grand slam and 41.5 gr of 4064 averaged 2586 fps, ES of 13, and this group (which I naturally got excited about and threw the last shot). I'll be verifying of course but it's a good start.
