Cartridges That Need to be Revamped or Revived

I found them to be notoriously inaccurate no mater what the cyclic rate of fire was. I had several and none of them shot well in any caliber or with any ammo. Then again I am quite picky and if it won't shoot at least MOA I would not consider taking it hunting and would send it down the road.
The pumps definitely outshoot their semiautomatic cousins….at least from what I have heard. I guess rebarreling the 760's though is a PITA.

You'd be very hard pressed to ever shoot one enough to need re-barreling. At most I've found a lot of them needed a deep cleaning due to decades of neglect to the point the rifling was almost smoothed out.

I bought a used one and it is pitted something fierce. The smith I use likes helping me spend my money on cool projects though 😂. So it's going to be rebored and I get a 35 Whelen Remington 760 pump.

Unfortunately neglect will so that.

Someone has to keep our smiths in business though.

You might check with Remington, they used to sell factory/custom prefit barrels ready to go for them.

I was hesitant because of some of the language on their website since they officially became "RemArms", stating basically that previous models are likely not supported but you raise an excellent point, never hurts to ask right?

But at the same point…..I have kinda psyched myself up to have a 35 Whelen now and planned a parts list around that build already……😂.

My wife hates me.

If your wife hates you teach her how to shoot and take her with you. She won't hate you anymore and might even ask you to take her to the range.

So Sierra list 9 .277 Bullets from 115-175 https://www.sierrabullets.com/product-category/rifle/?filter_diameter=0-277&query_type_diameter=or

Hornady lists 14 .277 bullets from 100-150 https://www.hornady.com/bullets/rifle/#!/

Nosler lists 16 .277 bullets from 130-170 https://www.nosler.com/products/bullets.html?nl_caliber=334

Berger lists 6 .277 bullets from 130-170 https://bergerbullets.com/product-category/rifle-bullets/?caliber=270-caliber

With 45 bullets listed not including all the small and custom bullet manufactures I fail to see how we are limited in bullet selection when we have every thing from 100 gr varmint to 175 gr big game bullets. Build your 270s and go kill stuff!

Absolutely!!

Maybe they need to hire hunters on their marketing team instead of just anyone with an MBA! Making money is about selling a good product that people want….hunters know what hunters want, regardless of a business degree. Corporate America I think in general shoots themselves in the foot when it comes to this mindset of "hire people with fancy degrees". When I did my masters program I was a research and teaching assistant and I can tell you one thing: professors purposefully give everyone good grades because it helps retain students, gets them solid ratings, keeps parents happy and money in the coffers…college isn't about education anymore it's about making money….the quickest way to turn a profit is to start a non-profit! Having a team that has a bunch of degrees doesn't really mean a **** thing anymore, it means you paid and survived. People need a knowledge of the products they sell and their audience. I look at Savage today and shake my head, I look at Browning and Smith & Wesson and say "these guys get their customers".

This upcoming generation is so poorly educated and additionally they don't have any skills, interpersonal or technical. We need more voc tech schools. And a different hiring mindset or we are doomed. (Rant over)
Your absolutely correct!!!

Oh she shoots she hates how much money I spend on guns! I buy "project rifles", she buys "finished products". Half of the fun for me is figuring out how I want to customize something to "make it mine". She doesn't mind when I buy pistol or shotguns because I rarely do anything to them besides a LOP change on the shotguns or a trigger job on the pistols. Rifles are a different story….I go a little bananas, haha.
