I just read that Justin Trudeau banned 1500 different types of firearms. What is of interest in this action also bans firearms that have more than 10,000 joules of energy at the muzzle. If the google ft-lbs to joules converter is correct then it effectively bans cartridges that produce 7300 or more foot-pounds of energy. This means that .408s, .416 Barretts, and many other ELR type cartridges are also banned. I don't think for a minute that the intent of the 10,000-joule limit was aimed exclusively at the .50 BMG. Was a .50 BMG or other ELR cartridge used in the recent shootings in Canada?
Trudeau's actions should concern all of us gun owners in the U.S. We could be only one election away from being in the same situation as many lawful Canadian firearms owners.
The 10,000 joule just proves what I have been saying all along, that our mortal enemies on the anti gun side will NOT stop with a ban on semi-autos.
I hope Canadians resist this through ALL means available...
