Just like here in the US. Handguns commit most all the gun crime. Yet they don't talk about banning pistols. Just mean powerfull black guns. Like the 223 or 5.56 is real powerfull. Are you still allowed to carry a pocket knife. Look how far London has taken it. Politicians are getting redonculous. They are never going to stop taking our rights away.

That's because handguns are a compromise that allows personal protection against most threats while not being too encumbering. They sacrifice combat effectiveness for the ability to be easily carried on your person while going about your daily activities.

But when the chips are down a rifle is a far more effective arm for defending yourself and protecting your country from enemies both foreign and domestic. If a politician is trying to take away your ability to defend yourself and your country with the most effective arms available then it can be inferred that they do not have the People's best interests in mind and fear the People's response that their actions may invoke.

After all, the entirety of human history has proven time and time again for millennia that nobody murders wholesale like a government and for the people of a nation to willingly give up their ability to defend themselves from a murderous government, whether by foreign invasion or a tyrannical version of their own, is to ensure that such an outcome changes from a possibility to an inevitability.

Let me preface this by saying that I am a hunter, shooter, and love my guns as much as anyone else on here. I think that banning assault weapons is just a feel good knee jerk reaction that won't accomplish anything other than appease a small group of people and I am totally against it because it would accomplish nothing and the gun grabbers would just want more. I own several weapons that would be banned in Canada and have no intention of ever giving them up. That being said, the only surprise to me is that they weren't made illegal years ago in Canada. It's a knee jerk reaction in all countries especially those with relatively low gun violence and really should be expected. You have Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and Norway just to name the ones I can think of off hand, It doesn't make them liberal gun hating zealots. They are just freaked out. There are only a few countries in the world where gun ownership is part of their constitution. We as Americans see gun violence on the news everyday so we don't react the way other countries do. These days, we don't really even think of anything less than 10 people being killed as a mass shooting and gang violence hardly constitutes as a mass shooting regardless of how many people are killed. We see our children gunned down in our schools and our first reaction is to cling to the 2nd amendment and throw out a thoughts and prayers as a consolation to the parents who have lost a child. We react to those who have lost a precious child and have the nerve to speak out for gun control with merciless vitriol. I can't hate those people. Can you imagine how their guts are ripped out? I have no idea what to do to make it stop. We are hardened to it and should not expect countries that aren't to follow in our footsteps.

The reason gun violence is in the news everyday because it is part of the Media/Power Elites plan to disarm us and turn us into EU sheep.

Real gun violence is decreasing every year, especially in FREE states.

We tolerate mass vehicular slaughter as the price of freedom, we must view guns the same, OR become serfs.

If we have to view gun slaughter the same as vehicle slaughter then we have to take a test, get a license, purchase insurance, and license every firearm if we want to be able to use any of those firearms.

Also, I am 54 yrs old and as long as I have been alive, gun violence has always made the news.

Yet all the while you know we are one bad election away from losing our rights. One crazy misusing a firearm should have zero impact on the law abiding.

IMO, we have too many that are too ignorant to drive or safely use a firearm, among many other things. So many want to use Switz as an example of a gun rights loving country and yet, do you know how many months it would take to own a new rifle or other, there or even have the right to hunt?
The funny thing about the "law abiding citizens" argument that rings lame, is that many, like the canadian shooter, like the vegas shooter, and on and on, is that they were only law abiding until they snapped.
Separately, I bought more guns than ever during the Obama years and very easily so.

I'm sure these points rattled some, and I hate any gun restrictions, but the bigger issue lies in thinking for ourselves vs listing to our PAC like sheep and solving nothing.

Actually, it sounds like you are the one who should move to some deserted island where there are no laws. I have no issue with getting a drivers license and paying for auto insurance.

Removable chokes often protrude from the end of the barrel. To get an accurate measurement of the barrel length and diameter they are measured with the choke removed. The inside diameter of the choke threads varies from 20.02 mm to 20.14 mm, depending on who made the choke. After notice of several court challenges Bozo Billy aka Cabinet minister Bill Blair promised that 12 gauge and 10 gauge shotguns were not on the list. My lgs is not currently selling them because they have not received any correspondence to that effect and the law hasn't been amended. In case you are interested, the Black Rifle Coffee Company, the website AR-15.com, and the Black Rifle air soft gun with orange tip, are also banned. We are SO fucked!!!

I agree with you that our enemies on the anti-gun side will not stop trying to destroy our enumerated constitutional rights. That is why we have to fight them in every domain and with every means necessary.

However, the sub-human filth on the other side has talked about banning pistols for several decades. A while back I was researching the .454 Casull and ran into one of their propaganda videos on large caliber handguns. Interestingly enough, they used similar IO techniques that are used now to generate fear of semiautos.

Canada's system is similar to the American system. The House of Commons (Congress) creates laws which are sent to the Senate for "sober second thought". The senate is biased, like yours, and recommends improvements to the law but they are not binding. The law goes back to the house which decides whether or not to accept the changes.

Parliament is basically on hiatus because of COVID-19. tru-doh went around parliament with an order in council which can be used to run the country but cannot be used for money bills. Our Conservatives (Rebublicans) promise to scrap this IFF they win the next election. The liberals (your democrats) are in power now with a minority supported by minor parties. If they win another election, I fear for Canada's survival. Four provinces are so opposed to the way the Federal government is running things that they are threatening separation. Either we will form Canada West or you Americans will have to brace for a flood of gun lovers.
