Can I convert 30-06 mountain rifle to 300 RUM?

trade it off for an ultra. Ive seen many ultras like new at gun dealers that guys bought and found that they just couldn't handle the recoil and noise. Seen some at bargin prices because they just collected dust on the shelf because of the recoil, noise and the cost of ammo. Id bet if you found one theyd trade you even up for your gun.

I bought my 300RUM for a song(550?) and it included a 100rounds of ammo, scope, and some fired brass. It was a sps stainless with a synthetic stock and kicked like a mule apparently-they fired it 8 times including killing an elk.
