Eric, was wondering about the expansion/coming apart thing. have heard Shawn and others clean out the hollow point and get better/more consistant expansion. our eastern whitetails don't present quite as much resistance as an elk.

Dave I have shot some deer with the 338 300g SMK from 900 to 2042 yards with good results with out any meplat trimming or opening up of the hollow point. I have had base ball size exit. Here is a pic of a piece of jacket I found in a tree behind a deer I shot at 1125 yards shot went threw both shoulders of the deer.
