Bullet not centered

Ok, when I try to chamber a round it rubs the side of the throat and the bolt is hard to close. Some chamber fine others others are a no go. I'm better off buying new set of dies for $30.

a few questions

does factory ammo chamber with no problems?

If so its not the rifle. It is your reloading procedure.

What press are you using?

Have you read all the literature on your lee die set and set the dies up properly?

if you have done that then...

If so I would buy a set of forster or Redding dies and try again. If those loaded rounds are visibly wobbling you have a problem.

most likely you don't have the seating die set up properly or something is amiss with the seating stem. have you taken the die apart and checked for bent or misaligned parts?

I'll be the first to admit that not all Lee products are top notch. But I've had just fantastic luck with their reloading dies. I have 6 sets now for rifle cartridges and all produce very concentric ammo. (Measured with a Sinclair concentricity gauge). Virtually no runout most of the time.

Hopefully the OP has them set up correctly. Since he is seeing them wobble, something is definitely amiss.

I cleaned the dies/ shell holder and replaced the deprimer / expander. I didn't have used brass so I used new, still a little bit of rubbing but not too bad only on a few rounds. Factory ammo has no problems. I colored a bad one up and it only rubs on the bullet as circled in my main picture.

Check the case length to see if they are longer than the factory, if they are, the dies will sometimes crimp if you are full length sizing. If they are long you need to trim them.

Your intial thought may be correct. You might have crooked dies. Ive gotten a set before from a reputable manufacturer. I just swallowed it and bought another set. Run out went from .015 to .002 with just a die swap. Not likely but it does happen.

I trim to 2.35, max is 2.40 for the 270 win. I put an empty case in which measured 2.53 and I could work the bolt fine. I didn't notice any bottoming out. I will just get a new set of dies, funny thing I shot a 200 yd. Group that was about 1/2 inch in size on my second time reloading rifle shells. Ever. Haven't done that well since.

I just noticed that all of my Lee dies have this verbiage on them. If your new dies fix the problem, sounds like you can easily get your money back on the Lee dies.

I have to agree, some Lee products are good, some aren't. You need a concentricity gage (like a Sinclair or a Hornady) concentricity checker / corrector and some better die sets.

Sounds to me like the expander ball / decapping stem is running way off center.
