Selling my BSA (Birmingham Small Arms) Majestic in .308. It's a cool old rifle that has shot accurately using 150-165's (I've never tried 180's in it). My only gripe is the safety position, and it's why I'm selling it. Every rifle I hunt with has a slider on the back of the stock, (like a mossberg 500) and this has a lever on the side of the bolt. I just can't get used to that change.
Gun is in great shape, shoots well, and carries like a dream. Empty and unscoped it weighs 6 pounds, and it balances very well. 21" barrel. Does not include scope.

Your photographs are terrific...

They need to either be much larger or ones that can selectable to increase the size for viewing details.

Thanks!

:)

That's interesting! I've copy/pasted this ad on 2 other sites, and the pics are clickable on those sites. Thanks for letting me know. I'll figure out why they are a fixed size and get it updated

Would consider trades (or partial trades) for a decently packable 10mm handgun. Sig p320 xten, Glock 20sf or MOS, etc.

In all of the pictures there is no imprint of what the twist rate is. Do you know the twist rate?

Thanks!

:)

It isn't marked on the barrel. I have never had great luck measuring twist rate by the patch method but I'll give it a try. I would venture to say it's a 12 twist. It stabilizes 150-180gr bullets flawlessly, but I don't think anyone was doing a 10 twist back when this was built.

I've shot consistent 1moa and less groups with handloads using 150gr Sierra gamekings, 165gr speer grand slam and BTSP, and 180gr swift a frames in factory Norma loads.

Your mention of the 150-180 grain bullets leads me to believe the same thing, 1:12". Most European makers used slightly slower twist rates than the U.S. I've used a ton of the 11.25" twist from Bartlein in .308 barrels. Gary Schneider often used the 1:12" though. Americans are overcome with the desire to use the longer, sleeker VLDs which need faster twist rates. For the average hunter though the 150-180 gr. .30 cal. bullets will succeed every time the hunter does his or her duty.
