I am going to offer a different point of view. Of coarse brass should be cleaned and dust particles removed before sizing.
Anytime I have had brass shavings or particles in my die leaving marks, it came from the case mouths. Certain brands of brass way worse than others, Rem bulk absolute worst, then maybe Win brand, I've even had Lapua brass do it less often, never with Norma. Just look at your case mouths, esp new brass. Being I have for the most part had a 3 way trimmer cutter, a touch up pass on new brass and it will never happen.
The biggest offender was running dies using expander balls, it just pulled loose material off the inside of the mouth, depositing it downward.
Does not matter how much, or what kind of lube you run, if you have particles of brass inside your die, it never ends well.
