I have my Weber fired up right now, ham is on. Not sure where you live but I need at least 60 degrees outside to smoke something big like a big ham.
So if you build something do a little research. Maybe something like a Klose would be a better choice since you can work metal. While smoking is low and slow you still need a lot of heat if smoker is loaded up.

I live in southern most NJ and I have seen smokers built out of old oil tanks.
