Borescope Images - Help me identify...

I don't as you can see some cracks running into the clean metal to the left in the picture

This is where I'm confused. Some say it is carbon so keep working at it, others say it is the barrel steel so "nothing left to try and remove"

It looks fire cracked to me from what I see. It's not a carbon ring. Carbon rings are at the end of the neck.
