If i chambered a new gun in 6.5PRC what length barrel and twist. Is a break really needed ? I'm starting to get the itch
I was just studying up on the 6.5 PRC. Article says handloading is the ticket for this and 140 + bullets. Recoil should be fair. I havnt seen anything addressing this though. I wonder if a short action would work with the VLD ? Or if i need a La

Im just gettong into reloading so excuse mu stupid questions. So is a SA gpod for that length of ctg ?
what load data i'm seeing is COAL just a touch under 3" with a 140VLD and around 3150fps at the muzzle
Wow! That's more than I am getting with my 6.5 SAUM.
A 26 barrel would be of no gain in accuracy or velocity ? I realize it would be long with a break. This is my last buildso i wanna do it right. Looking at a Mcmillan A5. I am 53 and would like to get befpre my 63rd b day thpugh. I waited 5 mos fpr last stock from them
True, there is factory ammo and that will make it appealing to the folks that may not reload and who may want a bit more horsepower out of a 6.5. However, for a lot of us who do reload the Hornady brass is less than desirable. Typically, it is very difficult to get more than a couple of firings. So, the SAUM gets my vote.I fat fingered that, I meant to say 3050, my bad, think he was a 26" barrel as well.
It may be a touch behind the 6.5 SAUM in performance, the brass and factory ammo aspect of it make it very appealing to me.
I would list your priorities and be specific. You talk about light recoil with the ability to take deer at 500-600 yards.A 26 barrel would be of no gain in accuracy or velocity ? I want relatively easy recoil that I can shoot a lot and not burn my Barrel out for practice. I have three different Weatherby for hunting so if I want heavy recoil I have it. This would allow me to hunt are Whitetail Deer easily in a light platform and still be able to make killing shots out of 400. Everybody says it's more than enough with perfect placement I am concerned about not perfect placement such as a shoulder on a whitetail deer
