New .260

starting loads
not a bad start, gives me somthing to work with
Hornandy SST 123 powder 4831SC 47 grain
Berger VLD 140 powder 4831SC 46 grain
Nosler Ballistic tip 120 powder 4831SC 47 grain
Barnes TTSX 120 powder 4831SC 47 grain

4 shots each

The berger 140 did a nice .386 but the 4th opened it, typical of VLDS
and the 140 VLDS hated the BLC2

Thanks, I just shot the load out to 400 yards, it took 1.7 Mils from a 100 yard zero, almost makes me think I am shooting near 2892 according to G7 ballistic program when I run the numbers, this seems hot? I do not have a Crono

here are my dial ups

200 -.4
300-1
400-1.7
500-2.5
600-3.4
700-4.3
800-5.4
900-6.5
1000-7.7

according to G7

the 1,2,3 and 400 are spot on

remington brass, cci 200 primers, only very mild primer flattening, no other signs of pressure

Quick question for you, how deep is the hook on the back of the stock for your opposite hand?

Also do you prefer a flat or tapered bottom to your stock for your sand sock?

Bad *** paint job by the way!

hook inset
2.76 from the tip of the hook to the back of the stock not including the recoil pad
1.126 vertical

.524 deep

I would prefer a little flatter on the bottom

200 0.3 mil
300 0.8
400 1.7
500 2.5
600 3.6
700 4.2
800 5.0
900 ca. 6.2
1000 7.7/7.8

more/less what you see / predicted.

Nice rifle.

waiting for more 140 VLDS to arrive so I loaded some Nosler 120 BT, had a decent 200 yard group

3 shot .760
the 2 under was me adjusting the scope down,
not bad for a start

FWIW, YMMV, IMHO and all that jazz...

My 260 prefers H4831sc if I can stuff enough in the case for the 139-142 weight class. With lapua brass that doesn't always happen with my chamber specs. Reformed Winchester 7mm-08 brass usually works better for internal case volume... because of that H4350 has become my goto powder for most of my loads. But I am far from done playing yet :D

H4350 has worked really well for me as well so I havent felt the need to change powders. The 130vlds, 140SMK, and the 140 Hybrids shoot great out of my rig.

She shoots :D

3 shots 1000y ~6"

This was with 140 A-max Lapua brass and H4350, right around 44g which runs ~2830 from my rifle.

At 100y this load and rifle are out shooting me and I have shot groups in the .3's but typically I will see that one hole group growing and blow the group on my 4th or 5th shot and open it up to a half inch or better... That's one reason I stopped shooting groups at 100y other than load work ups, LOL.

In 7mm-08 brass 43.5g works well and gives me a 2763 average, I can push this to the next node at ~44.5g which puts me around 2850 but I don't need the speed and would rather save my barrel and brass running at the lower node.
