Bird dogs

I have a drahthaar and they are very intelligent and are an awesome working dog. They will hunt all day if you want or shutdown early. Very easy to train he is 7 months and bring birds to hand. The breeder is grizzly creek out of North Dakota
I found a DD breeder near me. I am going this weekend to check out the dams he will be breeding.

Curious to hear what you thought. I've been hanging around the Great Plains Chapter for quite a while. About 5 years ago my daughter and I went to a training day to watch a bunch of 1 year old pups training and saw a few older dogs too. It was pretty eye opening on what the breed can do. Over the last 5 years, I have witnessed a lot of drahthaars who have had good game exposure and training turn into very solid field performers.

Big on/off buttons and fun to be around.

Thanks Kurt, that is all good need to me. The breeder wasn't able to meet up this week so going to hopefully meet up next week.

Not many things in life better than a good dog pheasant hunting. Here's my 2 yo golden... Daisy.

Had some fun with these two this year. My old wise male and my nut job female 'The Black Pearl'.

Took 5 trips this year, each trip I took a limit of ditch pigeons, lots of sharpies and my old boy put on some huns. Been eating bird a lot this fall. Great year, great bird numbers. Best I've seen in 10 years.

My boy is 8 this year. This vid was taken about 4 years ago- he was on wild birds then, and missed a few. Now he knows when to put the sneak on 'em and stays on them. It's kinda neat to see him switch from a pointer to a flusher if the moment is right. He's pretty darned smart in the field.

Hear those Huns are pretty delicious. That is a bucket list item for me.

Kind of off topic but managed to get my first ever prairie chicken this fall in Kansas. I prefer sharpies for eating so probably won't shoot many more chickens but it was really cool to actually see one up close.

Delicious indeed... and incredibly frustrating if you are hunting pressured birds (the only ones I can find). I can't seem to get within 100 yards of them unless it's horrendously windy
