I am flying from Italy to Georgia for a whitetail hunt (shakedown for Idaho) and then driving across with my bro to Idaho to meet up with another guy I was stationed with. We are all 3 heading out to hunt some mule deer. Not big compared to some of the stuff above but huge to me and Georgia buddy because it is our first venture into backpack/camping hunting with no services super close by. I have been doing my homework over the past 18 months and have the majority of my gear ready to ship over to Georgia (safer than going through EU customs) while my rifles are in GA. I will be running my new 7SS if I can break it in and develop a good load in the week prior or just pick one of my Weatherbys (.257 / 30-378 ultralight) if that proves too difficult. It will be nice to take a deer in Idaho, but this is about learning what does/doesn't work with the gear I have in preps for future hunts. My days of sitting in a box stand have been great and I will keep hunting whitetail but I think we are both ready for something different.
