Best value in hunting tripods

Look at field optics research. I have their bowl top tripod setup and for me it's the best all around hunting tripod.

the bowl top is not as smooth as a fluid head but it's much lighter and takes up way less space. It's like the tripod doesn't have a head at all. You can clip into it with a pic rail or an arca rail (I recommend the combo one that salmon River solutions makes)

the legs also are removable and work as trekking poles. It's very rigid and strong but not quite tall enough to glass off of standing because of not having a center section to extend. I don't glass standing so this isn't really a negative for me

honestly this thing is probably described best as a Jack of all trades/master of none...just like me 😁

I am going to be buying a good tripod for hunting. I am trying to avoid the RRS $1400 setups. What you guys using.
I went to down this rabbit hole a few years ago. You want a stabile, light weight, and relatively affordable tripod that packs well.

I went with a fiesol 3342 and 50mm ball head. At the time I as able to get the package for around 550.00. This thing is bad@ss. It's around 3.5lbs, packs decently with the 180 degree legs, and combined with arca rails stabilizing well. I have shot standing to 1000 with a trigger stick as rear support. Seated with a rear support (back pack etc) I feel really comfort to 1000, but especially under 800. I killed 3 coyotes on a stand from 500, 550, 595. 4 shots, 3 dead yotes. You can shoot prone off the tripod as well. I use it to glass with my binos and spotter and have an adapter I made for 15.00 that allows me to run my spotter and bino together. I would do this combo over and over and over again.

Here is the unit used with a magneto shooting prone:

Outdoorsmans in the Phoenix area makes numerous models. Made in the USA by hunters. Made in Arizona and they're rock solid. Look at putting a Jim White tripod head on it, they sell this also and are now the MFG of it and it's also made in the USA. I've got 2 matching ones and they're the best I've owned. I spend days every year glassing and for the money they're the best I've found. The below has my TriClawps shooting saddle in it. I can switch that out in 10 seconds and have my 15s locked in. Anyways, call them as they're great guys and will steer you right.

Leofoto also has some nice tripods and accessories at some good prices

Their Ranger camouflage model is nice. Like their summit line as well.

Go to night vision.com They have the night stalker tripod . All of us predator hunters use them. Will handle the the really big guns too. A lot of options on heads etc. Best bang for the dollar. Marty

I went with on of the Leofoto Ranger class tripods someone mentioned above and I love it. I tried a few other ball heads before I finally make the leap to the RRS Anvil30. I found the LS-365C model on Amazon open box for $250 and their isn't any deals to be had on the $350 RRS part but it still makes it less than half the full RRS setup.

If you don't need as much vertical travel, you would go with their leveling base model and just put a clamp on top.

I used my camera / spotting scope tripod and adapted a heavy duty cellular phone holder to the base. It is spring loaded and grips to the stock very well. I have used it when I find a draw or a small valley that I want to watch until sundown.

Hi Brent, nice setup. What 50mm ball head is that. Can't quite read the label.

I have the bog pod death grip. I have been super impressed with it. I use it on all hunts.
They can be had in aluminum for between $130.00 and $150.00. The composite is a pound lighter and a $50 to

$100.00 more

Outdoorsmans has the Slik Pro CF-634 on sale for $209.95 ($40 off). It's one of the lightest tripods on the market. I recommend it highly. I also recommend their Outdoorsmans Pan Head - smooth as silk and easy to set up. Very high quality. Their bino adapter is top notch, too.
