IMR 4064, Peterson brass, FGMM primers. Brand new Rem 20" 5R, fastest load development ever for me. Top left was factory FED GM 168gr match for a base line, then moving right (top) my first two 5 round load development rounds using Sierra MK 168gr. Second load put all 5 in one nice big hole.

I do have some Varget on hand, so I will tinker with that but not right now.

+1 on the Varget!!! Someone said 46 grains...... Start MUCH lower. I have seen significant pressure at 44 grains depending on brass.

44 grains is the sweet spot I found for 150gr pills.

There is but one reloading powder for the 308 and that is Ar2208 or Varget in your language.
If this doesn't work try 2206H or again H4895.
If your 308 will genuinely not shoot with either of these powders then you really need a new rifle.

I use both of these in my 308 with great results. They work well in my 223 also. Both great all rounders.

I think it's safe to say there are a lot of powders that the .308 can shoot well with.

For AR10 and M1A I go with H4895 and Varget. For bolt actions I like IMR4064 and 3031.

As mentioned above Varget and 4064 are hard to beat in a 308 with

4064. 43.5 grains was a laser with 168SMK. In several 308s I've had.

I managed to find and buy on-line an 8lb jug of IMR 4064 this week. Also 4lbs of IMR 4350 and I got a few lbs of WIN 6.5 Stayball to try.
Scheduled to arrive Monday.

I've used IMR 4895 and IMR 4064 for over 45 years. I've been shooting 2" groupings at 300 yards and I am not a competition shooters, simply hunting.

You might also find that IMR 4064 is one of the most universal powders on the market. I have 5 different calibers (5.56, 223, 243, 30-30, Wby .340, Ruger .375) and have used it in all 5. However in the larger calibers I prefer IMR 4350.
