Best long range target firearm

My buddy and I ordered same rifles just different colored stocks . He said he was about a year out on current builds , that was in June . I'm in no rush by any means as he needs time to do his magic . But how in the heck do you wait in anticipation without going nuts ? This is our first custom build .
Eventually that goes away. I'm currently been waiting well over a year and still waiting. I find other rifles to play with in the mean time.

Well heck I can do that . Firearm deer season just ended here so it's the best time to hit the gun club . No one seems to want to shoot when it's cold so the range is aways empty ! Like I said not even thinking of rushing the man . I know for me when I get pressured by a customer they usually end up on the back of the list !

My son inlaws latest build. He likes converting old to new. Model 1885 Win highwall chambered to . 475 Turnbull. Built for moose and brown bears in Ak. It now has a Leupold scope with a custom range dial on it as well. As of now it's the only one of it's kind. Shoots as good as it looks. He took an elk with it last year. Not a long range gun but the elk was 210 yds and it slapped it right down. The guys at Leupold did a great job building the scope. It's adjustable to 500 yds. 400 grn bullet,1shot,1 kill.

It's "purty"….and effective! Congrats to your son!

Though, I couldn't own anything similar. A few years of my, slips, trips, and falls…..that stock would look like a heavily used 10 year old shovel handle! On my custom rifle's "maiden voyage", I did a "face plant" with a backpack full of bear bait while crossing a wide, flooded (only a bit over ankle deep) Willow bottom! While pouring water and some mud from my brand new rifle I thought to myself, "Well, it's broken-in now! 😁

I admire those that can and do own beautiful firearms! memtb

It is pretty! That rifle started out as a . 45-70. Turnbull chambered and barreled it and it's been shipped several other places to get it all done. Probably has 10 grand in it. Not my cup of tea but each to their own. I'd have it beat up just like you said too. I like my accumark with the ss barrel and synthetic stock. Almost indestructible! Lol

I would agree that the . 257 is a great caliber and have thought about buying one just as a deer rifle. I gave a 7m accu mark mag to my son that worked well but i like the 30-378 better. And those accumarks are just about indestructible.
I totally agree. I use big bore rifles to shoot long range for big game. Not wooded areas.large meadow as well as canyons. 257 weatherby as well as 220 swift are my main hunting rifles. I do not use these for long shots due to lack of energy. Wounding animals is unacceptable! Head shots are a must!!! I noticed a melon head talking nonsense to this subject. He does need a hemi!!!
