I have used the same RL17 and 168TTSX combination in my 300WSM on 3 of my 4 sheep. Mine has also taken one elk at 550 yds. so I can attest that it works for both.My last build I used the Berger twist calculator.

As far as Barnes are concerned, using RL17 and the 168 TTSX with a .050 jump I get cloverleafs at 100 Yds. Remember when setting up either Barnes or Bergers they both like to jump.
I may be able to have both stocks and swap them out as needed. There will be times I want to fold that stock up when size is primary concern and times when I would rather have a rigid stock.I have a Magnesium XLR stock and like it, but would not be what I would put on a lightweight rifle. I would go with a carbon fiber Manners. Just my opinion.
