Best 7mm out there now

pacowboy , you are right . Layne took the Rem. 8mm mag and necked it down to 7mm ( 7mm stw ). I had a 7mm-300 wby. built before the 7mm stw was developed and shot it for several years. I used it as my pickup gun on the ranch. Shot a lot of mule deer and wise coyotes when they thought they were safe and stopped at 4-500 yds. I sold it when I shot the barrel out.

I've been out of the game since before my wife passed away. So now I'm wanting to get me a varmint rifle, since I have my .375 Ruger for deer and such :D

Have they made a .284-378 yet? Lol
Yes Sir I have one..........378wby case Ackley Improved necked down to 7mm. Almost got it done to start testing........

I think my 300 will cover anything I need it to. Not sure if I'll ever go to Africa to need the 375. If that day comes it would be the one I'd get
See I had that narrow minded thinking before as well. That was before I got the .375 Ruger and discovered that the 3/8" bores have unmatched versatility. I can load it down to .375 Winchester levels and use bare lead if I want too. It takes deer clean, no bloodshot meat, because thin skinned animals arent enough to expand those bullets. I can use it on Elk, Moose, black or brown bears, and take it to Africa. They dont have to be run at full power all the time. The 250 grain TTSX makes it stretch out there pretty good as well. 23" barrel, 300gr VRG-3, I average around 2660 using RL17. It can be pushed to 2750 without normal pressure signs, but RL17 is hard to read.
