Best 7mm out there now

I love my 280 Remington. But if you like wildcats I also love my 7/300 Weatherby. Layne Simpson didn't reinvent the wheel with the STW. The 7/300 Wby is virtually identical and was out long before the STW. The 7/300 Wby also held a world record in 1000 yard competition. The STW can't say that.

In October 1970, Mary Louise DeVito of Williamsport, PA used the Sierra 168 gr MatchKing bullet #1930 in a heavy benchrest rifle to break the 1000 yard benchrest record. Her record group was 7 11/16 inches. Her rifle built by Howard Wolfe, was on a FN400 benchrest action with a 30 inch Hart stainless steel barrel 1 1/4 inches in diameter with a 1 in 9 inch twist.

Her ammunition, loaded by her husband, was as follows:

300 Weatherby case necked down to 7mm
Primer 215 Federal
Powder 87 grs. of H570
Bullet Sierra 7mm 168 gr. MatchKing #1930
Velocity 3254 feet per second
Loaded overall length of round 3.725 inches

I'm definitely into the 28 Nosler. I shoot a modest 2960fps with 195 Bergers and it is lights out accurate. I'm hoping the barrel will last a bit longer with this velocity. I can get it up to 3300fps with no pressure signs at all, but I would like to kill some stuff with it before I have to rebarrel it.

I enjoyed the Jack O'Connor's favorite 7x57 aka 7 Mauser absolutely fantastic on deer, antelope, and black bear.
Which is virtually identical to the 7-08 performance wise, and there is nothing wrong with that.
We're is the love for the 7 mm RUM?
I do love mine
I've had two .300 RUM's, and looked at a 375 RUM at a shop a week or so back, but the 7mm version always had me curious.

No, my 7 creedmoor. IMHO, better than a 7-08 with 160class bullets. I have other post on this.
Somewhere buried in this forum, I posted pictures of some things I created. One was a 7-08 case with the Crapmore shoulder. Also did a 6.5 with the CM shoulder, but length like the 7-08. But what will always gripe my hiney about the 6.5 Creedmoor is it does nothing the .260 Remington didn't already do. It just proved with enough marketing money, you could sell ketchup popsicles to women in white gloves.

That's what I e always said about the 260. It's only limited by the rifle. Rework the rifle with a faster twist and longer throat you're in.
