Amen.If I recall correctly, the 6.5x47 Lapua was designed for the 600-800m competitions, it also has plenty of power to get to 1400m.
That could be a good Idea, I Do love the 243win.243 Win or AI if you need to stick to 308w based case
Would think about 7mm-08 fast twist

In my area we have a compétition call elr junior that is up to 1400m. Trick is you got to shoot a small action caliber with 308 Bolt face maximum.. So no magnum or short mag...
Have done it with my 308 last years, first try at IT, whent fine, 615m-800m-900m,with me missing at 1075m, mistake in scope d'ajustement.
Would think about 7mm-08 fast twist or 260 rem but I Do know that im on the oldie whent IT come to rifle cal
If you where bulding a rifle for that kind off competition what would if be?
It's hard to ignore the 6.5 Creedmoor despite all the haters on this forum.
It's immensely practical and components are dirt cheap and widely available and very easy to load for and factory ammo can be had cheaper than almost all cartridges other than 223.
It would also be very easy to sell should you tire of it one day due to its immense popularity.
