Bergers in the Creedmoor?

I really like H4350 in the Creed (who doesn't), but I can never find it anywhere locally, so I switched to H4831sc (which is everywhere around here). I'm getting a little over 2700 with a 140 hunting VLD (it might be too slow for a 130) in a 24" barrel and it shoots GREAT! It's not a powder I have seen mentioned a lot for the creed but might be worth looking at if you're having trouble finding H4350.

I'm going to try H4831 in my 6.5 CM. I've tried 7828ssc behind 147gr ELDs and got some stupid high velocities but not as good accuracy as with other bullet/powder combos like Varget behind 130gr AR Hybrids.

Post a pic of that bad boy Beeman. RBros do great work.[/QUOTEIf I knew how I would gladly post a pic. They do build a great rifle. If the Canadian dollar ever gets close to par with the U.S. dollar again I think I'll get another one.

Hey all. Picked up some 130 VLD hunting to try in my 6.5 Creedmoor. What's the hot ticket for powders? I'm well acquainted with Rl 17 and H4350. I've seen reference to 760 and 7828. What are you all using?
Im running 44.1 grains of RL 17 behind the 130 vld and its a tack driver at 2950 fps

Can't find H4350?! It's at every gunstore in Utah. I bought 8 lbs and haven't found a use for it after I found RL26.

I shoot the 140 Hybrid bergers and they are lasers! I have used three different powders and they just shoot out of the Creedmoor. That said I will add load development has been very easy with the Creedmoor. Far easier than any other cartridge I have used.
Powders I have used RL26:High velocity, low SD.
W760:eek:kay velocity, great SD,ES and best accuracy for my rifle.
RL16 good velocity, good SD and ES.

I haven't been able to get it from our local stores in 6 months (or RL16 and 26 for that matter, but I believe they have some ordered). Next time I run across an 8 lbs jug it'll be mine. My groups are just as good with H4831sc but just a little slower.

I can't wait for RL 26 to be available I only have two pounds left

Sounds like Alliant is kicking butt. I'll tap into the 26 jug, and look for some 16. Found another issue with the VLD. My seater stem isn't cooperating. Dinging the tip slightly and picked up some run out. I either need a different stem, or a better seater die.

I load 49 grains RL26/215 primer and the 130 Berger AR hybrid which nets 3010FPS and no pressure signs in my 22 inch barrel Bergara HMR. The 140 will go 2925 with 48.5 but the primer shows pressure. Work up to these loads if you try them. May be over pressure in your rifle. Hornady brass if your interested. The 140 pressure sign is the primer flow around the firing pin. I can feel it with my fingernail. Brass looks good though.

I'm using RL 26 and 135 Classic in Creedmoor and Retumbo and the 135 in my PRC and that bullet has been fantastic on antelope! I may even try
It on cow elk this fall

I need to compare the BC of the 135 to the 140 VLD in real world conditions to see if that might be a great compromise as a all around target and hunting round.

RL16 and Superformance have both performed well in my 6.5s from 129s to 143s (130 and 140 VLDs to specifically address OPs question). Every bit as good or better results than the famed H4350 and both are generally cheaper and easier to come by.
