Berger to introduce 7mm 195 gr EOL Hybrid Hunting Bullet

I went to the range today and spent more time setting up then shooting.... I used reloder 33 with the 195's 15 thousandths off the lands and found my top end load a little sooner than I thought that I would. I was hesitant with the high charges from the quickload data I got. They looked similar to a load for a 7stw so I started 10 percent lower at 72 grains and went up a grain at a time. I went to 78 grains but I only had to shoot to 73 grains before I reached my top end load. It shot very well. I had velocities of 2972,2977, and 2972. I shot prone off a bipod and rigged up my chrony on my tripod so it was only a few inches off the ground. I shot at my target at 200 yards and the bullets grouped well. two bullets were almost touching and the other was off a bit more but well within an inch. I pulled it so I am not sure of its real potential. I will have to pull the bullets on the rest of my cartridges but that's ok. It is definitely not a summer load and hotter than I like but it grouped so well and the es was so good that it will be hard to not shoot it hot.
I will have to do more tests to verify the load and test some at lower grains, but I was happy with it. It shoots faster than my accuracy node with the 180 hybrids so if it proves consistent, than I will be happy during the winter.
German weatherby mark v action timney trigger 3lbs

Hey Trapper, good stuff. I got a little confused at the end though. Were you using a 7 stw and laddered up from 72? At the end of the post I see a 7 weatherby rogue and 92 grains? or was that used on the 180 hydrids only?

I was using a weatherby rogue but the charges given to me to try seamed like they were for a bigger case like an stw.... my rogue had a throat cut for the 180 hybrids....
sorry it was confusing

It was great having the quickload help, because I had no idea where to start.... It kept me within safe pressures and I would advice anyone to ask for help before jumping into the unknown.... There is no need to go in blind.... I do not personally have a lot of experience with quickload and I am not sure if it accounts for freebore or how close to the lands you are but I bet it would have been closer if I would have given closer dimensions for the parameters. it would have been even closer to the mark.... If I would have asked for 7mm rem dimensions with 91 grain capacity and would have given my actual coal it would have probably been a bit closer... Nothing is known in the world until you actually do the work ups, but it helps keep you in safety limits.... I would tell everyone from my experience it is a must to work from 10% below max and work up if you are working with new wild cats and new bullets.... better safe than sorry.... I am far from a pro with this stuff and that is why it I good to have experienced council going into anything new....

Here's a new toy I put together specifically for this bullet. Rob McLeod installed the barrel for me, and did a great job.

First group of 4 shots after bore sighting and finding pressure ran right around 0.8 MOA. Got a few loaded up to dial in seating depth, and we'll be there.

Cherry popped on this last-day buck...

Rattled in to 100 yards, broadside shot, through both shoulders, 195 Berger Hybrid at MV of 2850 fps, ran 40 yards and collapsed. Not a single drop of blood. Bullet left the signature Berger pinhole entrance, penetrated both shoulders, destroyed lungs, bounced off offside hide and was found in offside shoulder.

Finally got another day to get a few rounds down range from my new 7mm-300wm. Had to find my sweet spot for neck bushing which I now believe is .311 for my .317 neck. Shot 801 and 1206 yds with the 195's today. Had some wind but pushing 15-20 mph quartering to me left to right. About 45 degrees f at only 400 ft elevation. I'm pushing them at 3050 outta a 27" Benchmark 1/8.5". Shot half minute at 800 and lil' better at 1200yds. First three anyway ... 4th got blown out when I got cocky and stopped watching my wind flags.gun)
I like the 195's and hope stretch them out a bit further soon.

Guys,
The Berger 7mm 195 EOL bullet is now included in our twist rate calculator !!! Again , our apologies for the delay.
Have a great weekend !!!

Phil
When I click on the 195 eol in the bullet selection chart it still post the bullet as 190 grain in the bullet weight column, I change it to 195 when I checked it, I don't know if it makes a difference just fyi

Sorry I'm referring to the Ballistics Calculator

Who is running a 195 Berger out of a 7 RUM, what kind of velocities and powder charges are you getting with Retumbo and H1000. My COAL is 3.825" and CBTO is 3.060" just wondering what results everyone else is getting with a 26" 1:8 twist barrel.
Thanks

3050 fps with a 28" barrel and 88.5 grains of Retumbo.

I talked to Bob and he is running a 26" tube with his own custom reamer getting 3200 fps running retumbo. Maybe he will chime in.gun)

I can't wait to try them with some reloaded 33 in my 7mm practical with 28 inch krieger I'm running 180s in a 7 mag with r33 at 3120 in 26 inch with no problems

Anyone loading the 195 berger for a 28 nosler? If there is some data out there for H1000 I sure would like to know where to start.
