Reasonably placed we have never had to place two in anything. Placement is important with all bullets. The reason I offered the more BC is good to reduce wind drift.

i see. my barrel has a 1.10" twist so i think it would stabilize the otm better.
Or what do you think. Witch one would you choose?

To date we have only shot them from a 1 in 10 twist. They were both stable at 4100' asl and above.

The 230 OTM just plain works. I've been using it in everything I have from 30/06 to and up. I've taken white tail deer from 40 yards to 719 yards and feral hogs from point blank to 430 yards.
The heavier jacket holds together very well for excellent penetration. I like to target the shoulder to anchor the animal. I've only recovered one bullet over the years. That was from quartering deer that took the front shoulder and ended up under the hide in the opposite hind quarter. Very predictable expansion with 1-3/4" to 2-1/2" exit wounds.
I also shoot the 185 juggernauts from my 308 AR10 and 308 bolt gun with very similar results. Take the time to check that the tips are open and not plugged and they perform flawlessly.

This is what I'm looking for. Prepping brass in my 30 nosler now for a ladder with the 230s over H1k.
I shot the 215 last season and wasn't thrilled with the short range results. I know there's no perfect bullet and while both the cow elk and white tail buck were dead I had hopped for an exit. Especially from the WT at 276 with an impact velocity around 2550.
Here's the 77 grains recovered from the 140 pound WT.

I'm running the 230 at 2980 from my 30 nosler giving me 1.5 inches at 300 yards.

I shot a spring black bear this year with the 230 OTM, 120 yards, 3,000 fps muzzle (300 RUM, 28", 1:9"). Center of the center, as they say. Back half of the jacket under the far-side skin, core exited. Bear fell, rolled, got up and walked about 30 yards, expired. Lot of bullet for a spring bear, deer, or antelope. Just right (I think) for elk. A comfort in grizzly territory.
