I'm not all that familiar with the 100 different bullet styles that Berger makes but I was under the impression that the VLD-H was the same as the Hybrid. What is the difference?

question regarding the 215 hybrid-- does anyone know what the minimum opening velocity is?

I've seen two open at just under 1500 fps.

I know quite a few people use them for hunting, I know the whole "berger bullet" debate issue too, just wanted a bit of real world numbers --doubt I would ever hunt with them out as far as what 1500 would get me, but it's good to know

Nope.
Ogive shape is different between VLD and Hybrids. Elite Hunters and Hybrids are the same ogive shape.
Also, Hybrids are technically a "target" bullet. The Hybrid has a slightly thicker jacket than the hunting VLD. I actually think that helps.

the bullet shape is different the ogiv is not the same

all I use up here moose bear sheep boos ect and at long range never had any game take more then 15 steps down and dead. boo at 810 yrads both moose over 650 yards. the 215gr hybrid is the bullet

Ha, that's the 50 moa suppressor mount for those 3 mile shots ;-)

Killed a moose Fall 2018. 215 from a .30 Nosler at 3000 fps. Just over 100 yds. Hit the front outside edge of the shoulder penetrated well into the chest cavity. Moose went less than 20 yds. It will do the job just fine for you.

I guess if you do not dress skin and cut up your game in your yard you would not need a tarp to do it on but thn you also do not have any brown bears there also that like to come in to your yard just keeps the yard cleaner with less blood in the ground

215 Berger is good to go along way out and on any animal in north America.
