I have a moose hunter wanting to use them out of his RUM.I shoot them in my 300 win mag and 300 Rum.On paper they do great.but have never used them on an animal .I have read on this form how good they work.but I have never seen a recovered bullet to see how they perform.Does anyone have any recovered bullets

The 215 is not bonded, they work great as long as you don't hit hard bone. A rib should be no problem, a moose shoulder might be. I have also shot 215s at non hardened steel and they bust through, so I have mixed emotions. If it was me and I paid a lot of money to shoot a moose I would pick a different bullet, that being said I have also seen 215s kill a lot of stuff. So I guess it's up to distance and how well the shooter can shoot.

I've killed elk with the 215s at 2900 fps. No concerns from my experience, albeit not a moose.
Never understood the distance conversation of bergers at close range. If you were worried about them exploding on shoulders, punch them thru the lungs (probably the biggest target and has lots of leeway).
The 215 has a heavier jacket, something to consider.
The hammer bullets could be useful in this conversion.

The 180 Berger did just fine on these 2.
Dont know why the 215 would do just fine too

Just started working up some loads for hammer bullets out of my 300 win and RUM.but my hunter is getting one inch groups at 550 yards. It might be hard to get him to change.I just would like to know if the 215 will do the job

215 Berger @ 3100MV from a .300RUM. 432 yards on a big bull elk.
Bullet shattered onside shoulder (not femur), a vertebrae, and stopped under the offside skin. Bull dropped, rolled downhill once, kicked front leg once, and done. This is the only 215 I have recovered from a bunch of elk. All the rest were pass-through. Holes from quarter sized to baseball sized depending on distance.

Depending on where you start your bullet at for speed in that .300RUM, it might be a LONG way out before you hit 1800fps.
At sea level, 45°F, with a MV of 3100, 1030 yards is 1800fps threshold. Go up to 7000' and 45°, that moves it out to 1400 yards, and still maintains 1500+ ft/lbs to boot.
