Behind enemy lines in CA. Need to escape. Need help

Okay, I will just own this fact that I am a 4th gen Californian, but all generations have been Reagan style conservatives and are from rural CA. With that said, I just retired from Law enforcement and am looking for a safe semi rural place to raise my family. Gun rights are paramount, good big game hunting, and the ability to be left alone. I mind my own business, and don't ever want to turn the place i move to into California. Every state I look at, it seems they are not far from becoming blue. I lived in NV and would not even consider it now since the libs have a super majority there, with Reno and Vegas controlling the state.

I hope you and your family find the kind of place your looking for , it sounds like the same kind of place that we all enjoy here in our great country ... America, land of the free, home of the brave.

No disrespect to you or your way of thinking, but, yes, our thoughts on guns are very different among other things. You are appreciative that your owners, the government, " allows " you to live in relative peace . That they " allow" you certain privileges with firearms . That they will " let you " see their doctor if you get in line.
This conversation is about being in control of our own freedom and we are trying like he!! to not wind up being thankful that our government ALLOWS us to do anything . We are suppose to " own " the government. Not the other way around.
Again, not trying to condemn you for your life style. Just explaining ours.

No disrespect taken, I understand the differences and the history behind it - we've never had a war of independence or a civil war, we've historically valued our firearms first and foremost for hunting/sporting/survival. By and large our gun owners are more concerned about the right to provide for themselves than defend themselves. I personally think our laws regarding self and home defence are complete crap, protecting criminals and incriminating their victims. Not trying to compare nations or governments or liberties or anything like that really. But in addition to political concerns the op and others expressed frustration at running out of good places to hunt that aren't overcrowded or overlegislated, and I'm simply thankful I don't have to worry about that (small population in a huge geographic area has its perks). I do empathize with you in you're struggle. Mentalities surrounding firearms aside, from what I've been reading there are many states and cities in your nation that are more hostile towards gun ownership than what exists up here. I agree that any government that would take away it's peoples teeth is not to be trusted at all. Hoping you guys succeed in defending and maintaining the freedom for individuals to make, live, and defend their own lives and livelihoods that your nation has bled so much for and pioneered for the rest of the free world. All the best

The irony of American politics of gun rights is that those cities that have the most stringent gun ownership restrictions are actually the most gun violent, e.g. Detroit, Chicago, Washington, D.C. and New York, specifically, although admittedly Detroit is somewhat better with a more conservative Chief-of-Police who understands his city's violence and encourages self-protection.

Yeah that may seem counterintuitive to some but it makes all the sense in the world. If guns are outlawed only outlaws have guns, or something like that anyways

Well regarding the disregard for laws...
This is something that simply drives me insane.
They riot in Baltimore and the Mayor and our President at the time say
"...well they have real concerns...let them blow off some steam"

I kid you not...actually said things to this affect.

What happened to "You may well have legitimate grievances, but we have a system of laws and courts and voting....rioting is never justified."

Anyway, long story short, the last 20 or so years I have been amazed how CHINA gets things right...when idiots in the US get it wrong.

Drug problem?
Nope.
Murder problem?
Nope.

Swift and sure justice sees to it those concerns.

Bank problems
Nope

Corrupt bankers are quickly executed for corruption.

Long story short.
I would not want to live in China.
But I certainly would not want to live in Baltimore, or East Chicago or Gary IN, or a half dozen other US cities where they have abdicated the rule of law and allow mob anarchy.

When it comes down to it...high population density is almost always a problem no matter where you live in the world.

True freedom is only achieved by the very independent subsistence farmers or wealthy landowners.
Do you know they teach our children how to PROTEST in middle school now ? They say it's a good clean way to exercise your first amendment rights ! We as conservatives screwed the pooch when our party walked away from our schools a few years back. It's hard to hold on to our great heritage as Americans when we send our children to liberal indocteration classes for 8 hours a day. Our future as a country is being taught in our schools, and it doesn't include our conservative proud American values. Then, of course, if you dont research and pick their college choices very carefully, they get their doctorate in liberalism there . If you havent noticed, this plague isn't a natural movement or evolution of thought. It's a very well thought out and orchistrated take over . The big question in my mind is who is holding the strings...............

I hope I don't invite too much criticism for saying this, but as a staunch libertarian I am inclined to agree with your statement on how schools are now indoctrination centers, but not just for leftist ideology, but statism in general. My kids are homeschooled thanks to a wife willing to stay home and do it.

When my oldest daughter came home with instructions from the school DARE officer to tell them about what guns we had in the house and if "dad takes them to the gun range", I pulled all three of them out. I suppose I could have taken my complaint to another government bureaucrat so the situation could gain some public scrutiny, but it was a welcoming "addition to safety" the school was attempting to implement according to the populace. call me paranoid but you don't ask a child about the status of their parents' firearms...

I'm not playing these political "civil rights hot potato" games anymore, and I sure as heck am not ready to tip-toe around life hoping my God given liberty doesn't become a "crime" because some "representative" 2000 miles from me thought it justified to infringe on my rights, and have my kids act as informants like some sort of Orwellian dystopia nightmare.
For liberty loving folks and those who hold dear the values this country was built on- we can only shake our heads...

This is a very good point. I'm fortunate that I have a 45 minute drive home, outside of Boise city limits. As we drive home i ask my son what he learned in charter school each day and pounce all over the liberal crap they are preaching. I'm also fortunate that my kids are capable of discerning reason from two sides of a story and ultimately settling on the most logical perspective to form their own opinions (which I encourage them to openly share in the classroom). I wish I could see the face of his teacher when he tells them that not only do we eat meat, but that Dad kills all of the family protein each fall..... the horrors....

I'm proud to say my daughter has that same ability and never misses a chance to let those around her know the stark difference between what she knows as right and wrong and what the school tries to push on her. I've had choice words a couple times with teachers/principals over the years as well when I felt her views caused some unfair treatment for her . She had told me several times about kids that tell her in private how they agree with her , but keep their views to themselves publicly . She stands for her beliefs and I am thankful those beliefs are the same ones I , and it seems many on this forum, hold dear !

The insanity never ends.
I had a class in college that was basically a non stop propaganda speech on liberation doctrine.
Since in was a supposed to be a history class, I kept interrupting the professor and asking for "facts"
Who, when, where, $ values, census figures, GDP...you know, stuff to back up the propaganda.
By the end of the course, the liberal students were literally trying to shout me down.

Didn't work.

I had no problem being hated for asking the hard reality questions; instead of just basking in the feel good utopia wish think / group think that is liberal socialism.

The sad thing is that the vast population is really starting to show a preference for Utopian wish think over reality.

IDK how you fight it.

There are several States that are still good as long as you stay out of big cities. No matter what state you pick, the big cities are places to steer clear of. They have the highest crime rate and the most ant- gun laws/people. Elected officials are one of the biggest problems, but we keep electing them without researching their history and opinions.

Keeping the 2nd amendment is not easy and must be fought for if we want to keep our freedom. You may not win the candidate that you wanted/voted for, but at least you did your part and didn't sit back and just complain.

Voting is the only real tool we have, so vote these anti constitution people out.

J E CUSTOM

Amen. Sadly though, we dont vote teachers in. And if the teachers can sway our youth in the direction of anti- everything we hold dear, then it's our children who will decide who holds our offices in the future.
GAME SET MATCH
