Behind enemy lines in CA. Need to escape. Need help

Hi! I moved from Northern CA, Sierra mtn area to south Reno about 18 months ago. Yes NV is catching the cancer from CA but it's much better than CA. Lots of gun guys and excellent hunting. I'd have moved to WY or Idaho but like yourself I have family in CA.
Consider south Reno. The area is new, clean, no bums or helpless doper so called homeless. The airport is 8 miles away. Mt Rose ski area is 17 miles away.
Despite the results of the last election here I believe 2020 will swing back to blue. Trump is doing a great job and people are turning away from the crazy idiotic socialist Dems.
Why not bide your time until after 2020?
And yes, CA is a lost cause. If I travel back there it's like going to some third world country.
Also I've heard good things about western South Dakota, Black Hills area.

I mean SWING BACK RED

I am SO saddened to read all this. I can't see any other way to stop this besides a major catastrophic event. I live in Missouri and if you get outside of Saint Louis, Kansas City, or Columbia life is really pretty good here, as long as you can afford to be in a rural area. Turkey, deer, hog, and the Natural Conservation group in the state are trying to bring back Elk and Bear. ----, this is depressing to read.
Speaking of major catastrophic events, San Francisco is over-due for the Big One.

Okay, I will just own this fact that I am a 4th gen Californian, but all generations have been Reagan style conservatives and are from rural CA. With that said, I just retired from Law enforcement and am looking for a safe semi rural place to raise my family. Gun rights are paramount, good big game hunting, and the ability to be left alone. I mind my own business, and don't ever want to turn the place i move to into California. Every state I look at, it seems they are not far from becoming blue. I lived in NV and would not even consider it now since the libs have a super majority there, with Reno and Vegas controlling the state.
South Dakota is RED

Texas or Arizona. Texas is my fav outside of Austin. I grew up in Washington and it's a beautiful state but no way in hell I'm going back.

I would vote for SW Kansas. Lots of pheasants, quail, small game and varmints. Deer, both Mulies and Whitetails, and Antelope. 109,000 acres of public land and lots of land owners will let you hunt if you ask. I think Kansas will stay red for years because our rural areas are populated enough to offset the high population areas which are not many. Fairly mild winters, and no flooding. Lived here all my life, would not go anywhere else.

I can't contribute to conversation regarding things in the USA. I can say that reading all this makes me appreciate where I live a lot more (northern Saskatchewan, Canada). Tons of empty spaces, wilderness, places to hunt and shoot, game animals. My dad is a retired farmer. On his land I can hunt moose, elk, whitetail, mule deer, black bear, waterfowl, grouse. We do have an entirely different mentality regarding guns but our laws aren't nearly as restrictive as many Americans may have heard. I pay no range fees, never been to a range. There's no shortage of places to shoot, long range if desired, right near by and people who would let you hunt or shoot on their land provided you asked first and respected their wishes.

<snip> At this point I hate to say it, but think we may be starting the downhill slide.

Essentially I said the same many years ago here in the LRH forum and Len politely told me to take my opinions elsewhere. Oh yeah--I did mention the "S" word, with hope in it, and I think that's what put him off, but lots of people are talking about the "S" word now; it's become mainstream even (at least if you tend to follow libertarian circles).

Just like we'll never "run out" of fossil fuels, no state is ever going to be "full" but prices will certainly respond to supply and demand! Personally, if people are coming to Idaho for the right reasons and can help to keep the reddest state in the union red, I welcome them!

One of the biggest issues IMO is the media now in Boise, I see the subtle liberal cues in the reporting. And look at Medicaid expansion. That is a dead giveaway that the state is turning purple/ blue.
I think Idaho has longer path to even purple than just about any other state, but the media is very disconcerting, as you say. Even in Lewiston (a solid "gun town"), the Lewiston Tribune is owned by TPC Holdings / Bloomy!

No disrespect to you or your way of thinking, but, yes, our thoughts on guns are very different among other things. You are appreciative that your owners, the government, " allows " you to live in relative peace . That they " allow" you certain privileges with firearms . That they will " let you " see their doctor if you get in line.
This conversation is about being in control of our own freedom and we are trying like he!! to not wind up being thankful that our government ALLOWS us to do anything . We are suppose to " own " the government. Not the other way around.
Again, not trying to condemn you for your life style. Just explaining ours.
