Behind enemy lines in CA. Need to escape. Need help

Okay, I will just own this fact that I am a 4th gen Californian, but all generations have been Reagan style conservatives and are from rural CA. With that said, I just retired from Law enforcement and am looking for a safe semi rural place to raise my family. Gun rights are paramount, good big game hunting, and the ability to be left alone. I mind my own business, and don't ever want to turn the place i move to into California. Every state I look at, it seems they are not far from becoming blue. I lived in NV and would not even consider it now since the libs have a super majority there, with Reno and Vegas controlling the state.

This is my opinion as about the mass relocation by Californians. I believe there are more conservatives by far leaving California than liberals. The retirees, working class and businesses, California as far as counties go are very conservative, it's the LA, SF, San Jose we cant out vote

I'm likely an anomaly here - I'm a total liberal, but I love guns, shoot, reload, carry, and hunt. Don't fish so much because I currently live in the mountains and don't care for freshwater fish. Mostly me and my liberal gun friends just want to be left alone. My biggest issue ie people. Every where I go, there's more and more. Last bow-hunt I had there were hikers, mountain bikers, wood cutters, and grazing permit cattle everywhere even after a day's hike into a wilderness area. Long gone are the days that I could hunt public land anywhere and never see another person. That said, my vote is for Wyoming or northern Idaho, although the more time I spend in Texas, it looks like I just may decide to retire there.

With that attitude and your interests, you're not really a liberal anymore, you just think you are. Almost very single liberal I know, is anti-gun, anti-hunting ("you psychopathic small penis, animal murderer, you should buy your food at the grocery store"), and all for filling the country up with illegal immigrants and giving them welfare, foodstamps, education, "free" medical benefits. They actually believe that allowing millions of more people at their own will into our country because of bad situations in other countries is a good thing. If you hunt in Southern Calif., you may come across groups of illegals hunting. Friends of mine have. And don't tell me you can't jump to the conclusion that a group of young non-English speaking Mexicans aren't illegal. The Mexicans were working in a group to drive deer down a canyon where several were waiting with rifles. My friend told a game warden and he said no way was he going to challenge them. It's disgusting.

As a retired police officer (29 years) living in Oregon, and retiring from a larger agency in Oregon, my first choice for a move would be Idaho. Second choice would be Wyoming. I hunt in both states every year and have for many years. Idaho is closer to kids and grandkids for me. Oregon has become a mini California and the liberal democratic legislature is horrible. They would outlaw hunting and guns if it were at all possible. Same with Washington state. Idaho and Wyoming both have majority conservatives in their state legislatures. I don't see that changing anytime soon. We are in the process of looking for a second home in Idaho in the Payette, Council or McCall areas. Good luck and congrats on your retirement!

I feel your pain.
Born and raised out here under Reagan, dealt with "Moonbeam," and now have to swallow Gavin.
But I'm a retired military man, living in San Diego; and it is about as good as I can get it, without leaving the Pacific Ocean AND the state.
It's tough with Illegal Immigrants, Traffic congestion, and NO by-mail ammo-laws.
And I keep wanting for Texas with all the insane politics in WA and OR.
But there are a few conservatives down here, and there is good hunting in the Cleveland National Forest; with a lot of wide open space East of Mount Palomar.
In any case, it's a tough choice; remaining here.

I'm your neighbor. Been here 61 years. I can't say good hunting in Cleaveland National Forest . Deer hunting there is not too good... if you like brush it's good. Have hunted Palomar Mountain for many years. I like San Bernardino Forest much better. It has real mountains and pine trees ! Lol. The Sierra zones are good when you can draw them. If I apply this year, and draw. I will be out of state. That sucks. Have to burn points . Have max points for elk. Will never draws tule elk tag. I've drawn bighorn and antelope here.

I attempted to. I even informed him of how I would react if it was HIM that showed up at the door. I won't go into how the conversation went but nothing was getting though. He felt that his agency was in command and that they decided what I had the privilege to have and do. And any resistance would be overcome with force from his magical abilities. Like I said he was no longer the guy I knew. Combine that story with the same agency denying my CCW permit after 14 years of decorated service being deployed 200+ days per year for portions of it. I literally have no respect for said agency in any way. Jack booted thug arm of a radical leftist state. But I am getting off point......

I'll admit that years ago I stopped spending time on this site because it was a little bland and boring politically. Plenty of good shooting and hunting stuff but not enough "testicular fortitude" when it came to current events. Just my opinion at the time, calm down old guys.... Now I'm starting the think I may have some allies in opinion here. Love your post.

@kdguns I guess it is fine to be liberal. Assuming you are not socialist there is no reason for you to vote for a Democrat. If you and your buddies just can't convince yourselves that you really are Republican, please don't vote.

As for the rest of the great folks on this thread that seem to have given up...I hope you all vote. You have relatives that were willing to die so you can. Less than half the population votes. I'm afraid most of the non voting public is conservative, because they not only gave up on their state, they gave up voting. You all gotta vote. Except @kdguns and his friends.

What ever happened to the group that was working on dividing California into two states? Northern and Southern California. Best idea I'd heard in a long time. It's the same in Oregon. Oregon looks almost entirely red on the political map by county. The blue Portland area liberals control the state due to population centers. Both houses of the legislature are super majority Dems and the Gov. is very outwardly anti gun. She's never seen an anti gun bill she didn't love.

Okay...serious solutions......fence in the big cities...no one out...
The rest of the country can stay rural and free of idiocracy....well almost free of it.....we have to have our fun too.....
When I was married...we moved to se idaho in hopes of living...on internet there were all kinds of properties with 50 acres and decent houses....sold out(lost butt) in Oregon and moved.....those listed properties were not available and hadn't been on the market for a long time.....can you say deception.....actually had to move into a culdesac full of house in idaho...last thing i wanted to do......
If you are to move..better make sure of your places to see...
If I were to move here right now being retired(which for me will never happen) I would look very seriously at Mountainhome...25 miles south of Boise....nice area..close to big city hospitals...and a nice growing small community......
OR...
If you can handle Oregon.....look at the Lapine area on Hwy 97....south of Bend....access to high cascade lakes and much more.....
