Bear downed with 9.3x62mm

Call Barnes and they will give you load data for the 250gr TTSX.
They also said that you can use the same data as the 250 TSX for the listed loads and that the data for Varget isn't available in the Reloading manual.
I tried Varget and it didn't work for me.
Good to know, I may just need to order some powder this week!

Good shooting, good bear, good writeup. Thanks.

A question: I owned a 9.3X62 for a while and found the recoil unpleasant. Admittedly, mine did not hve a rubber recoil pad and seemed to have a rather sharp jolt. How do you find the recoil with yours?
With the McMillan stock which is fairly light I find it noticeable but rather manageable. It's more of a push than it is a sharp impulse.

I have two 9,3x62s and both love 58.1 of Varget with a 250 TSX. Velocity is right around 2450 for each. Pink Splatter target is for the Mosin Nagant with a bushed bolt face @ 100 yards. Cow elk was taken at a lazed 350 yards in NM with the VZ24.

I have a Savage 111 synthetic and although a little 'crisp', not unpleasant or unmanageable.
It's comparable to the 30-06 with heavy bullets in a light setup.
I really don't notice any difference in a hunting situation.

Very nice cow and great looking rifle! I have a Ruger Hawkeye african as well that I'll be working a load up for. Your photos give me hope for that TTSX, I am excited to try it.

Assuming that they are around or just under 9# "all up"…..those should be some awesome hunting rigs! 👍 memtb

Congratulations on the fast and accurate shooting !! Really great story ,and I love the rig ! Great rifle ,interesting caliber , great scope !! A a really great looking and shooting package !! You should be very proud!!!
Definitely! Just rezeroed with Norma 232 gr Vulcan and am going to attempt to take a deer with it!

I know this may sound corny but there is a certain charm in hunting game with an old-time Low tech grandpa kind to rifle and caliber combo. When I get my Model 70 ( 1949 Mfg) in 300 H and H , I intend to try to take a deer with it. Just for sheer pleasure and enjoyment of hunting with it. No thought of G1 BC , or Drop at 600 yards , or anything like that. Just make a nice deer load, and zero it at 200 yards, and be able to shoot a buck at 400 yards ,if ever required. More like Mayberry RFD in stead of Star Treck!!! LOL
