Here's my opinion on barrel thickness regarding a hunting rifle. Long shot strings aren't relevant as that's not the intended purpose of the rig. Therefore no need for the sendero barrel if you're trying to save weight.
Of importance to us, the thinner the barrel the more finicky the barrel can be. Meaning a thicker barrel will shoot more bullets accurately and typically have broader velocity nodes. These two make for easier load work up and forgiveness towards slight variances to velocity.
Now if weight is not an issue, it's hard to not run a sendero due to the above.
