Check this out ,it's the wood drawer right above the barrel vice , I think he made his own to fit each different barrel.I love how if they needed something they would just build it. Ain't pretty but I'm sure it would still work. Not like the cheap junk they sell nowadays. Interesting find!
Not sure, the gunsmith was born in 1924 ,and went to Colorado gunsmithing school , in the early 50 's ,How old do you think it is? I see your in California and I doubt anyone would have lugged that cross country before trains
