Barrel vice ,that came over on the Mayflower?

This is in the barn , the inner ring that holds the barrel is made of wood .i

I love how if they needed something they would just build it. Ain't pretty but I'm sure it would still work. Not like the cheap junk they sell nowadays. Interesting find!
Check this out ,it's the wood drawer right above the barrel vice , I think he made his own to fit each different barrel.

How old do you think it is? I see your in California and I doubt anyone would have lugged that cross country before trains
Not sure, the gunsmith was born in 1924 ,and went to Colorado gunsmithing school , in the early 50 's ,

He also made and sold reloading dies , and reloaded ammo ,
On top of that he was the town postmaster and historian
