Badlands Precision Bullets thread - From BC to terminal ballistics

Has anyone done much testing with the 205 30cal sbd2? I was considering using it my 300 Norma Improved but I am concerned with the lr expansion.
Not actual test here, but have been told by Badlands that you're good down to about 1,600 fps with the improved hollow-point/tip combo. I would love to see a gel test in the 1,600 - 1,800 fps range.

The pictures I have seen of the other bullets expansion and low speeds like the .338 270 don't look that impressive but I may have to get a few to test anyway.

The bullet fired at 1689 still exhibited 1.5 caliber expansion

The only other difference is on the Super Bulldozer we drill the hollow point .025" deeper, just so that we can get the broach in another .025". The deeper you broach them, the better they open. Unfortunately you can only broach so deep. Once the chips start piling up at the back of the hole you can't push the broach anymore.

Got some updates on the 140 .277 in a 19" .270 Sherman (standard Sherman, modified .270 win case)

19" 8 twist Mcgowen barrel w/supressor
Formed Norma brass
CCI 200 primer
3.500 OAL (Max mag length) which is a .077" jump
Reloder 26

As you can see, there is a massively wide node around 3100 fps, for a 1.2 grain spread there is a 17 fps e.s., so I loaded up 63.5 grains. That entire spread also grouped around 4" at 600 yards on the ladder. Also, 64.3 had the very first signs of pressure, faint ejector mark, but no bolt lift yet. This was shot at 78° f. With a .333 G7 at 3100 fps, this load is doing pretty fantastic and should work great. Will get on game performance on a few speed goats this fall!

From what Ive seen, they are very accurate! Several of my SS shooters have used them. They also have a very high b c for a hunting bullet and an aluminum ballistic tip.

Hey Rich. Kicking around the 150gn BD2's in my 7 Max when it gets finished. Any idea of the velocities achievable or anyone with experience running these in one of your 7mm cartridges?

Dang you Cody, now I need to try that on my .270 AI with 30" Lilja 1:8" barrel. 😇
