Are you settling on this 100 yard group?

I have a rifle and load that will shoot in the .2's, I cannot shoot in the .2's every time. Hell I can only do it when the stars are aligned which for me is about once a year or so. That said I think your load is pretty good, I would definitely concentrate on mechanics until it is second nature. You may only get 1 chance at a trophy and you don't want to be thinking about any thing but making the shot. You might try dry firing a couple of times before you shoot your first shot, it helps to calm the nerves.

be careful dont get none of that powder on your privates heard it could cause cancer

I guess I haven't mentioned it. But I dropped some decent bombs on some good bucks last year. The 30" buck at 630 yards and the 4x4 at 540 yards. Both DRT. Here's the bucks and the shot placements. This is why I'm particular about the load development and the cold bore shot. I 100% understand what you guys are saying 🤘. I killed 4 bucks and an elk with this rifle last year.

The 28 doesn't take long to send a bbl to the scrap heap, I'd shoot 4 shot groups, you can tell if you have a winner in 3 or 4 groups with out burning through your powder and bullet supply.. 4 shots is a good way to fool your gun, it will be getting ready to throw that 5th shot out of the group, so stop at 4, your gun will be ****ed, but you'll feel better.. Some times your best load at 100 yds. isn't your best at 300, it's a good idea to check at longer range before you settle on a load. Good Luck

That's exactly what happen. This wasn't an intentional 9 shot group haha. But that flyer at #4 made me keep sending them to see how the group really settled. I know the barrel life garbage haha, so I never shoot until the barrel is hot. Normally 2 minutes between shots or so. Right before a hunt, I'll shoot two back to back fast like in a hunting scenario and see where they land together though 👍🏼

I'm running almost the same load out of my 28. shooting consistent .25" groups very accurate at 1000 yards. great load an bullet combo for a 28 BUT don't hunt with the Berger. I had 2 very bad experiences with that bullet. One blew up on a neck shot at 100 yards on a mule deer and another on bull at 256 yards one shoulder shot and one hit the rib. Went back to the 160 grain accubond to hunt and the 180 on steel.
