AR bolts are consumables. You should get several thousand rounds out of a high quality bolt on a 16" rifle, but they're going to fail eventually. Cheaper bolts will generally fail faster.

A young man asked me to figure out why his gun would not eject and I found broke bolt
No idea how he used it

Yes, fairly common issue in cam pin hole on lessor quality bolts. Luckily a 5 min fix and pretty inexpensive.

This is common in bolts that have excessive clearance between the cam pin and bolt body. Not always a "cheap" gun problem either.

all parts fail at some time or another regardless of price. if the failure was due to something other than usage, more info about the firearm would be needed (maintenance, ammo, use of and more). make sure the barrel extension is clean and no excessive wear on it, check the cam pin channel on the receiver and chargehandle. if the gas rings or the carrier caused the bolt to fail, it could've caused this with excessive pressure when the pressure was supposed to be less during the cycle.
