Anyone shooting shorter barrelled suppressed?

20 and 22 inch barrels with my suppressor. Obvious draw back is loss of fps but the pro is lower noise. Love the suppressor. When you run a can you add length so you have to consider what the end goal is. I normally run 26-28" barrels without a can. So my length issue is the same, but I don't have to mess with hearing pro and my dog (who is always with me) has no issue with the sound.

I have a question for you......you have both a 308 and a 6.5x47. I have been kicking around building one of these with a 18" barrel for a kind of all around out to 500 yard gun, with a secondary plan of getting a suppressor at some point. I know I could load the 308 subsonic and it would be really quiet, but how loud is a suppressed 6.5x47? A neighbors house is about 300 yards away, and while they don't care, I really hate shooting yotes after dark in the red light. Watching videos is really hard to get a feel for how loud the sonic crack really is..... So in short, how offensive is a suppressed 6.5x47 going off if you were 100-300 yards away? Let's pretend you were down range, which I assume would be the loudest.....

It will sound approximately like a unsuppressed 22 magnum rimfire.
Several of us shooting suppressed. To me, that is about what I hear when one of them shoots in another area. Just my opinion and gives you an idea of what to expect. Lots of variables on the sound.

Not yet, but I will when my suppressors are in my hand. Since my Omega will add like 7" to my rifle I'll be shooting a bunch of 16"-20" barrels on my rifles. I've got a 16" .223 and .300 BO and a 20" .308 to start with, and I'm sure I'll be adding more.

what everyone else said.

It isn't quite 22 mag loud.

My son took his first whitetail with a ruger American ranch rifle in 300 BO. 16.1" suppressed. 1 shot just over 100 yds. Basically no recoil or muzzle blast. He drills with it. I think he was 8 at the time. 110gr Barnes ttsx hand loads.

I've got a 16" 308 that shoots great out to 6-700 or so. And my primary hunting guns are a 20" 6.5 creedmoor and a 20" 6.5 SAUM. Both shoot great and I still get plenty of speed out of them. The creedmoor runs a 140 class bullet in the mid 2800s and the SAUM runs a 143 at 3140 or a 130 at 3210.

18" 204 and 21" 243

My wife's deer rifle is a Howa mini action in 6.5 grendel shortened to 18" and threaded. I think except for the break in shots where it was cleaned between every round it hasn't been shot without a supressor...

We've been using 16" 308's for deer hunting for several years now. Once the Ultra 7 went on, I've never shot mine without it since. Currently run 125 BT's for deer and 125 TNT's for yotes and plinking. Velocity (with best accuracy) is 2850 with the BT's, a tad over 2900 with the TNT's. Carefully worked up to 3050 with 130 TTSX's but haven't hunted with them yet.
